ParticipantHi! Last year, I posted this: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/eventbrite-time-zones-urgent-please/
I’ve seen a more recent post from someone else asking for the same solution we’re looking for. Why has this not been addressed yet?
In the past week alone, we’ve had THREE COMPLAINTS from people registering for an event on our WordPress site where the time and time zone are listed correctly, but then get an email registration confirmation from EventBrite that states a different time. This is HUGELY CONFUSING AND PROBLEMATIC.
I know I’m not the only one asking you guys to fix this or give us a way to turn off the time zone adjustment, but months later, it’s still not available. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me you have a firm date for when this is going to be fixed? Having so many people asking for the same thing should give you a hint as to how important this is. Please tell me we’ll have a solution before the end of this month?
While I’m at it, here’s another problem you need to fix.Check out this listing: http://blog.graphisoftus.com/event/archicad-intro-intermediate-training-raleigh-2
If I have to change the price of my tickets, I go into EB, change the ticket price, save and refresh my WP page. My EB ticket window will show the new price, but the price that Tribe lists at the top of the page DOES NOT CHANGE – EVER. The only way to get the price accurate is to trash the existing Tribe listing and reimport the EB event once you’ve made the price change. Otherwise, the tribe header lists the old price and the EB ticket window lists the corrected price, which, again, is confusing to anyone going to register. Can you fix this too please? thanks…. 🙁

MemberHi Jennifer! I head up the support team here at Modern Tribe and I wanted to reach out after a colleague let me know about this thread. Thank you for your follow-up…and for making your frustrations known. You are right that we haven’t done enough to communicate where we are with this functionality and how we’re trying to address the Eventbrite-related time zone concerns. I apologize on behalf of the whole team for letting you down.
The good news is: we have exactly what you’re requesting here – the ability to make timezone conversion optional – shipping in our forthcoming release. I notice that in both Leah and Barry’s replies to your thread from last year, they noted that this had come in too late to make the cut for our 3.9 release. But we did it view as a high priority and started work on it immediately after that release shipped. This has been an abnormally long release cycle given that we’re making a lot of fairly substantial changes to the plugin suite across the board, but the fruits of those labors – a 3.10 build to follow 3.9 – still haven’t shipped. That is wrapping up QA now and I expect will go live over the next month or so. But I want to stress that we have been moving on this since you reported it about as quickly as our release cycle allows. We have not, for example, been releasing new updates that address other issues but ignore this one.
We are expecting to kick off a small beta for the 3.10 suite next week, and I would love to have your feedback if you were interested in testing this new feature that makes time zone conversion optional. Would you be interested? Let me know if so 🙂
As for the second issue you noted: that is definitely a pain. We have a smaller update to Eventbrite Tickets (3.9.3) that will be releasing before the end of the month, aimed purely at converting the existing codebase to use the newer version of Eventbrite’s API. I suspect that moving to the current API is going to clear this up – but if it doesn’t please let me know. That plugin will be shipping around the 20th of this month. Think you can hold out until then on this second problem?
Let me know your thoughts about the above. I really appreciate your feedback here – we do understand your frustrations and want to get this next release out as soon as possible to help those suffering from time zone-related problems. I also want you to know that, if you find the update satisfies your needs and your faith in the product is renewed, I’d be happy to provide you a free renewal for whatever license you’d like – as a “mea culpa” for the poor communication and for the hassle you faced with your own frustrated customers.

ParticipantHi Rob! Thanks so much for the detailed reply. I apologize for the tone of frustration in my last post – it’s been a long week and jumping through hoops to correct event times was just the icing on the cake.
Would love to be part of the beta test – yes, and thank you!
And if all goes well, I will take you up on the renewal.
And I sure do hope that moving to the new API clears up that price change issue – that one definitely creates a lot of work.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing these problems solved – and to taking part in the Beta. Thanks again! 🙂

MemberHi again Jennifer! Thanks for the follow-up…I hope you had a nice weekend. This sounds great – I’ve got you on the list for the beta, which should be kicking off later this week. My colleague Geoff (who will be running it) will be sending around the details to yourself and other participants at that time. While we’ll likely send the whole plugin suite to beta participants, feel free to only test Eventbrite if you’re not interested in the others. We’ll likely have a small beta forum set up here for folks to provide feedback on whether or not it’s meeting their needs.
If you have any questions or concerns along the way you should feel free to reach out to me directly, at rob (@) tri.be. If nothing else, do drop me a note when you’d like to take advantage of the renewal.
Otherwise…is there anything else we can do for you in this thread? Let me know if so and thanks again for your patience. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the beta!
