Event won't update to Published status

    I noticed an event wasn’t appearing on the calendar.

    First, I checked its status, which was “Scheduled.” On the edit event page, there is no “Published” option in the status drop down, only scheduled, pending review and draft (see attached photo).

    Next, I tried to change the status via the Quick Edit feature. I could change the status to every option except Published. When I selected Publish and press the Update button, the event status shows as Scheduled.

    What’s going on?

    Hey Cody,

    Thank you for reaching out to us!

    If you edit the scheduled time (modify the date/time to something in the past), and click on OK > Publish, does it help you to solve the problem? Everything works as expected when I follow these steps to immediately publish a scheduled event.

    If for some reason the issue persists, can you please confirm that you are accessing your Dashboard as an Administrator? If you access your site as a Contributor you won’t be able to publish new posts (and this includes events as well). You will find more information about Roles and Capabilities here.

    Hi Patricia,

    Thank you for the response. I can change the date, but there is no “Publish” option under the status drop-down menu. Within other event posts, “Publish” is an option, but not for this one. Hence the problem. See below for the screenshot.

    I am logged in as the administrator.

    I created a duplicate event and was able to publish it. I’d like to know what the problem is though so I can avoid it in the future.

    Hi Cody,

    Thanks for sending us further information on this! That’s odd, specially because you are having this problem with one single event and not all of them.

    To identify the cause of this issue, I would recommend you to enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG and share with us any messages you see while accessing this event and trying to edit/publish it. All WP_DEBUG messages will be stored in a debug.log file in /wp-content.
