Event with multiple showings

This is more of a feature request then an issue…

I have a client that imports its events. Some event are theater related, such as plays. Those kind of event have multiple showings, sometime not even on the same location.

I know recurring event can work out pretty complex recurrences, but is there a way to have an event with multiple showings?

I’m currently considering importing it the other way around : import a different event for EACH showing (with its own datetime and venues), instead of trying to make a single event with EVERY showing in the detail.

Hi Nickolas,

Thanks for your post. Recurring events can be used to do multiple showings at different times. However, they’re designed around the events being at the same location. If you want to have showings at different venues, it’s probably best to make multiple recurring events for each venue.

When you make a custom recurring pattern, the default is to have all the events at the same time (whatever you’ve set for the main/first event). However if you uncheck the Same Time box, further options will appear which allow you to do a different time. You can continue to define recurrence rules until the various showtimes are accounted for. If you haven’t already, I recommend you read through our article on recurring events for a further walkthrough of the features.

In my case, you are right, having multiple events at multiple venues might be the better option then trying to use the recurring functionality. I’ll do that. 🙂
