Event voting & booking…?

Hi there.

I’m hoping Events Calendar will be a good solution for me and my client.

The problem I’m trying to overcome is only creating the right events for the right people. I want to offer event ideas, and allow people to vote on their favourite. Only then, will I design the event and know I have people wanting it. I should then be able to send an email out to them saying the event is available (as well as just making the event public on the site anyway).

Ideally, my visitor flow would be:

1. view event ideas
2. vote on them
3. sign up to be notified when/if that event becomes available
4. book the event (free/paid tickets).

I am happy to use any combination of Theme/plugins paid or free to achieve this, but first I would like to ask if you believe something like this is possible with Events Calendar? What would your suggestion be? Is Events Calendar my solution?

Hey Mark,

What an interesting question! While The Events Calendar doesn’t include voting right out of the box, I wonder if there’s another way to make this happen. For example, one idea might be to use a plugin that allows you to create, submit and vote on ideas and the ones that rise to the top in votes gets an event. There are a few plugins that do this:

• WP Idea Stream
• Idea Factory
• Feature Request Collector

The most voted submissions can be turned into events on The Events Calendar and tickets can be sold using both Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus.

In other words, I think it is possible, but may take a few more pieces than what we offer alone.
