ParticipantHi,
We have events such as https://www.evernote.com/l/AAFHX8koqINODpo6FVwwSOGI6nk7tGXP2KY which links to http://btu.org/event/inclusion-committee-meeting-3/. However, http://btu.org/event/inclusion-committee-meeting-3/ returns a 404 even though the screenshot confirms that the URL exists.
I have reset my permalinks and cleared the server cache to no avail.
Please let me know what you recommend.
Thanks,

ParticipantHowdy Josh,
Thank you for detailing what you have tried so far. I am sad to see you are facing a 404, but I can definitely walk you through this.
I have seen similar issues. Often it is the result of WordPress mistakenly seeing that URL/slug as belonging to another page or plugin. But when it tries to request that page it can’t find it in the end, and a 404 results.
There are two things we can do to diagnose. Personally I would start with just the first one.
- Install the Debug Bar (official WordPress.org plugin). Visit the above 404ing pagand click the “request” tab of the debug bar. Copy the information from that tab here. That might give us a clue as to what is hijacking this URL and why.
- Test if a “conflict” is happening. This guide walks you through how to test for a conflict, and then identify what is conflicting.
Are you able to run through one or more of those steps? Whats the result?
Cheers!

ParticipantThank you for sharing the debug bar info. This gives me an idea on how I might be able to reproduce this on a test server. From there it will be possible to investigate further. I will get back to you with the result tomorrow.

ParticipantHowdy Josh,
I have been unable to replicate this and determine it is a bug. I tried a variety of things after starting with your exact settings, and none of them are seeing a 404.
Would it be possible for you to try deleting this event, and recreating it from scratch? It is possible that it has somehow got corrupted in the database. Deleting/restarting would be a likely fix.
It sounds like this has happened with other events as well. Do all of those also have a number after their slug? (i.e. inclusion-committee-meeting-3.)
Cheers!
