Hey @Kristin,
We unfortunately can’t help a ton here because there are many ways to go about doing this, and the “correct” way to do so depends on you, your client, both of your needs, your site, and so on…
The way this is done in a general sense is using the “Event tracking” features of Google Analytics. Now, if you know that already, I apologize. The trick is how to do this on your specific site, which there are a number of ways to do so.
A simple Google search will reveal many possibilities. If you are comfortable with editing code, you can custom-code a solution on your site. Otherwise, using a plugin like one of these two is probably the most straightforward way to get started:
• https://wordpress.org/plugins/gravitate-event-tracking/
I know this information is a bit vague, but since we do not have any event tracking built into our code specifically this is something that either custom code or another plugin would have to configure.
I hope this information helps!
