ParticipantHi,
I am using the Events Tickets Plus plugin to sell raffle tickets, which is working well. However, I’ve noticed that the post (for the front end user) and the “attendees list” has been getting slower and slower to load with each ticket sold. It finally timed out (server 500 error or just not loading) at 1843 tickets this morning and no-one could buy tickets.
I replicated the post and product and and have reinstated ticket sales with this new post/product (which is running very swiftly).
For this raffle, I’ve had to add manual ticket numbers by way of a field for each ticket (which I have to edit once they’ve purchased tickets) which is ok in this instance, but next year ticket numbers will be automated using the default ticket numbering, so I won’t be able to keep creating new posts/tickets if it starts to slow down as the ticket number is crucial.
Would you be able to offer some advice on how to avoid this increasing slow down/timing out in future? We are likely to need to sell up to 5000 tickets with the system per event.
Many thanks,
Penny

KeymasterHi Penny,
Thanks so much for reaching out!
I’m sorry to hear that your site is running slowly with use of our plugins.
As a first step, please have a look at our Performance Considerations and see if there is anything you can adjust in order to help your site run better:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/performance-considerations/
After that, you may be interested in caching, so take a look at this article: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/caching-basics/
Also, if you are still having issues, would you mind providing me with a link to your tickets page?
Let me know how it goes and if you need any further assistance on this topic!
Thanks,
Jaime

KeymasterHi Penny,
Great, thanks for providing me with those links. I can see what you mean about the first page being much slower than the new raffle page. Have you looked into some kind of caching plugin? I know I linked to this earlier, but this may be something helpful for you to explore:

Also, you may be interested in exploring our recommended developer plugins. Query Monitor in particular may be able to help to pinpoint where your site is slowing down, which can hopefully point you in the direction of how to speed things up.

You may also want to talk to your hosting company and see if there are any errors appearing in the PHP error logs on the page that was timing out.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks,
Jaime
