Chris
ParticipantWe recently upgraded from 4.2.3 to 4.4.1 (and today, to 4.4.2). We read that there were some changes to the “recurring events” functionality, which should be called “event series” now.
We have a number of event series which are configured to occur on specific dates. For (at least) these events, we can no longer see and / or edit the dates on which these event instances take place. See screenshot for details (it’s in Dutch, but it should be clear what is happening).
As you can see, we are missing the inputs which we can set the specific date. Instead we see a “Every …” label and dropdown, which does not seem to do anything. We are relucant to save anything at this moment. Please advise π

ParticipantWe now tried saving the event from the screenshot: all recurring dates are sadly gone… π

ParticipantWe re-set all the dates and saved the event again: now, the recurring dates are shown as they should.

KeymasterHello Chris,
Thanks for reaching out and I’m sorry about this recurring event issue.
Yes, there are changes in how the recurring events are handled, it was introduced in version 4.4.
I have seen one other report of the exact thing happening. If I understand correctly, then the recurrence rules were replaced by exception rules in your case?
Do you still need any help with this issue? (I’m sorry, it is not clear from the above.) If yes, please let me know what the issue is and I’ll do my best.
Thanks a lot!
Cheers,

ParticipantHi Andreas,
Well, for this specific event it is “solved” now (by re-entering all specific dates on which the event should occur). However, we have a number of similar events for which we currently cannot:
– See in the admin on which dates the recurrence occurs;
– Modify any of the recurring dates;
– Save any modifications on the entire event without clearing the recurrence.
So that is still a problem.I’m not sure what you mean by “the recurrence rules were replaced by exception rules”. From the display that we get for such an event (see screenshot), one can see that there is a number of rows under “event series” that corresponds with the number of recurrences. However, the view we get does not make any sense π It doesn’t look like a recurrence rule and it doesn’t look like an exception rule.
Thanks for your time.

KeymasterHi Chris,
Thanks for the further information.
I was asking about βthe recurrence rules were replaced by exception rulesβ because I saw a very similar case recently where that has happened.
Also I checked in our system and there is a bugticket filed for an issue like this when updating to 4.4.x
Our developers are already working on this on high priority and if all goes well it will come out with the next maintenance release. For that unfortunately I don’t have a date yet.
I added this thread to the ticket to give it a bit more push.
Until then the workaround would be restoring a backup from before the update. Maybe you can try downgrading back to 4.2.3 instead of the backup, might work as well. And do a backup before doing anything, just in case. π
I’m really sorry about this issue, rest assured we are working on a fix. We ask for your kind patience.
I am going to set the status of this ticket to “pending fix” and we will update it once the fix is released. If you have any new questions or issues please create a new ticket and reference this one.
Thanks and cheers,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
