Event Search Bar outside loop and more…

Hi there, three questions:

1) I’d like to add an event search bar outside loop, and precisely in the header of site homepage. Is there a way to place the form (and/or the map view) outside the the events page, as a stand alone element, and to display results in a new page?

2) Is there any chance to add search keys to event search bar? I would be particularly interested in using additional fields values as an array of options.

3) Bound to question 2, but not “events bar-related”: how can I get a list of an additional field item values (dropdown or linked item list) and use it to filter upcoming events? Is that feasible?

Hey Stefano,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

1. For the header search, it would be possible to do something with a map type search in the header, however it would take a bit of customization beyond what we’re able to provide here in support. Alternatives would be to add a basic search field that either searches just the “tribe_events” post type or have a field that submits to the events map view and passes the value to the location field.
2. Take a look at this starting point provided by another member of our team, Nico. It’s not a complete solution here but can help to get you pointed in the right direction.
3. This is something that is available within our Filter Bar plugin
