Event page for three citys

Hi there,

I’m making a decision about buying your plugin (Events Calendar Pro), but I’ve got few second thoughts about things that I want to achieve by this.

1. Is it possible to filter events (and venues) through tags or categories? I need this in two levels, I’ll describe it for you shortly.
My page will have few categories for events, and three cities with should be connected with events. When I decide I would like to see all events from Category1, I would also be able to filter Category1 events through a city category (City1, City2, City3).
Finally, I will see stream with upcoming events for Category1 in one of the cities.

2. Is It possible to use plugins for ratings (GD Star Rating for example) with Venues?
Can I think about Venues as a classic post-type and use with it all of wordpress plugins?

3. Like in 2nd question, I would like to use NextGEN Public Uploader plugin with my venues pages (that users can upload photos that will be connected with venue). Is it possible?

I have an intermediate knowledge about PHP and WordPress queries, but I never used Events Calendar plugin, so I’m not sure buying It will give me a simple way to implement solutions that I posted above.

Hi Waluigi,

Thanks for your interest. I’ll do my best to answer your questions.

At this time, we do not have the filter capabilities that you are describing built into the plugin. It may be possible to achieve with some customization. It is possible, however, to make menu items that link to events within a specific category. By doing that, you can use the categories in a way similar to that you describe.

We are working on a big update the The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO, version 3.0. Along with version 3.0, we are planning to release a filters plugin that would allow users to search by location and category as you describe. When that is available it may be a good solution for you.

In regards to the plugins you mentioned- we do our best to make our plugins very compatible, but we cannot guarantee that they’ll work with plugins other than our own. I recommend that you download our free core plugin, The Events Calendar, and test the plugins you mentioned with that. As our core plugin is the basis for the PRO add-on, it is highly likely that what cooperates with the core plugin will also work with PRO.

I’m happy to hear that filtering will be available in 3.0. When will you probably release this version? I found information about 1-2 months, am I right?
Maybe good Idea for filtering by location is using some ‘city’ category, that will add class to event’s div (for example class=”cat_city1″) and filtering It through jquery?
In that case, I’ve got one more question, in Events Calendar PRO when I’ll add categories for venues, can I make a page containing list of venues with some information?
And every (for example) DIV will contain class with category name?

I tried GD Star rating for example and It seems to work well.
When NextGen Gallery uploader will also work, I’ll buy PRO version and post my site into forum.

Hey Waluigi,

Glad to hear that the plugins seem to be working well. Version 3.0 is currently in beta, so your 1-2 month estimate should be about right. We’ll certainly let everyone know when we have a release date set.

Your ideas about the filtering and venue pages sound like cool features. Although they are not built into version 3.0 of the plugin, it may be possible to achieve something similar with some third-party customization.
