How do I keep the event listings from showing when a reader searches for something on my site using the general search bar? I want that search to only result in an archives of my blog posts not blog posts and event listings.

    Hi Jennifer!

Thanks for getting in touch! Let me help you with this topic.

You can customize the WordPress search to only search for posts and pages using the following code snippet, that you can paste in your theme’s functions.php file:

Remember to not copy the php opening tag “<?php“.

Let me know if it works for you.

    Best,
    Victor

I have no idea how to do that. I don’t get into any of the coding for my site.

    Hi Jennifer!

Well, in that case, there are a few alternatives to add the code snippet to your site without having to access your site’s files.

You can install and use the following plugin that allows you to paste custom snippets like the one I shared > https://wordpress.org/plugins/my-custom-functions/

Please give it a try and let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,
    Victor
