Linda
ParticipantHi
I break down my events into monthly categories however since upgrading to pro recently I’ve noticed that my listings in Google have changed. Previously if I searched for say May events it would bring up the May Category and list the first three events in May. However when I do it now it shows the category but the events are the latest that are happening now:This is what I get if I now search for May in Google results
Events Calendar Bournemouth and Poole – What’s on in May
http://www.letsgoout-bournemouthandpoole.co.uk/whats-on/…/may-events/
Calendar of Events for May in Bournemouth and Poole including Whitsun events, main and local events, concerts, shows and things to do for all the family.
29 Jan – 31 Jan
Hairspray The Musical at …
Thu 29 Jan
Lobster and Burger Night at …
Thu 29 Jan
Supper Club at The Kings …As you can see its showing Jan events under May’s
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance

MemberHi there, Linda! Thanks for getting in touch.
Good question. Google grabs the data for those dates using rich snippets for events. The plugin is configured to deliver these for you so the events show up the way they do.
As far as the correct events displaying, I found the search result in question and this is the URL that Google links to from the result:
http://www.letsgoout-bournemouthandpoole.co.uk/whats-on/category/all-events/may-events/
If you notice, the page includes the Upcoming Events widget, which also contains a list of events including the ones that are displayed in the search results. I imagine that having both feeds of events on the same page is the reason why this is happening.
If you were to remove the widget from the template and give Google time to refresh its cache, I think that would have an impact.
Does that make sense and help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

ParticipantThanks for the quick response. I’ll try removing the widget temporarily to see what happens. How long does Google normally take to refresh?

MemberThat’s a good question and I honestly don’t know–though I do know that you can request that Google update that information on their end.
