We are looking to create an event listing like the one in your showcase:

Is there a lot of customization required for that or could we build that using the Events Calendar Pro?

It does look like that site has employed a number of customizations, like a custom search and a custom way of displaying our List View, however you can create a similar List View right out of the box.

You are welcome to try our free Events Calendar plugin and see what it can do without any customizations, and from there you can purchase Events Calendar PRO, which includes a number of additional features, including additional views and shortcodes.
