Event List view shows only summaries

Is there a way to make the Event List page/view limit the charactors of each event description or show only a summary of the event.

Reason for this would to just clean up the look of the page to allow the viewer to see more events without scrolling.

I do believe it will show the excerpt, if the event has an excerpt, in preference to the full text – would that be a workable solution here?
