Event List view displaying publication date instead of event date?

Probably not what you want to hear, Josh, but I just discovered that the issue we’ve been working on is not confined to the “Lectionary” events that were created. If I click on any tag that shows up in the tag cloud (and is associated with TEC events), all the events that display in the default Tag Archive page display with the Published on date rather than the “Start date”. Don’t know if this helps, but it is what it is.

Hey Mark,

Thanks for providing this information. I was unable to see anything out of the ordinary that would be causing this issue. I did however come up with a workaround that should work for you here. Within your child theme, create a new “archive.php” file and add this code as the file’s contents.

Sorry about the previous reply. Looks like some of our auto formatting got in the way there. The rest of the message was that I was unable to see anything out of the ordinary with the events. However, if you create a new “archive.php” file in your child theme and add the code from the gist above into that file it should address the issue on the tag archive pages.

I’m sorry, Josh, but you lost me… You say “add the code from the gist above into [archive.php]”, but I’m not sure what code you’re talking about. You did instruct me to add some code to “content.php”, which I did, and which took care of the date not showing up at all (but didn’t fix the issue of the wrong date showing), but I don’t see any place where we’ve talked about “archive.php” and I don’t see what code you’re instructing me to enter there. Am I missing something? And again, I really appreciate your patience and persistence on this.

I’m terribly sorry again. It looks like my original response there with the code you needed got messed up worse that I thought 🙂

You currently have a child theme active on your site. Within that child theme, you’ll need to create a new template, “archive.php”. Which will cause the original within the parent theme to be overwritten with this new one that you’ve created.

Within that file, you’ll want to copy this entire code within this gist verbatim:
