GuestHello, I am interested in the PRO version, however, we have several hundred events in our current calendar. I know you have an import function in the queue. We want to purchase PRO, but need this function to work first. What is the timeline? Thanks.

MemberHi Kevin,
The import function we are working on is actually for importing events from other calendars like Google or iCal into The Events Calendar. Any events that you have in your current install of The Events Calendar will still be there if you upgrade to Events Calendar PRO.
Does that answer your question? Or are you wondering about transferring events from another calendar plugin?
Cheers,

GuestHello Leah,
Thank you very much for the quick reply. We currenlty use another calendar product that can export the data to a CSV file. We love your product and want to switch to that. I manage several community calendars and want to make sure we can figure out a solution to import the current data.
Thanks,

MemberHi Kevin,
Thanks for clarifying. We don’t currently have a way to import the data, but happily we are working on a CSV importer to include with our upcoming 3.0 release. I can’t give you an exact date for release, but it will be coming this spring. Keep an eye on our website or social media for a release date announcement.
Cheers,

GuestHello Leah,
Dumb question. Do you have an importer from google calendar? If so, could I import into google then transfer to your calendar?
Thanks again,

MemberWe do not currently have that functionality, but our new importer will include that function. Currently we can only export from our calendar to Google Calendar, etc.

GuestThere was an experimental importer that I was successfully able to use by exporting my Google Calendar using Thunderbird’s calendar extension.

ParticipantWhat experimental importer did you use?

MemberMike, if you happen to see this…it looks like Matt could benefit from your knowledge! (I just killed the couple of SPAM comments that had made it into this thread, as well).

MemberHi Vidal,
Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, we are not ready to release the CSV Importer yet. We’ve been devoting all our resources to the actual 3.0 release. However, that’s coming out soon and then hopefully we’ll be able to finish up and release the importer. Thanks for your patience.
Best,

GuestAs a paying customer who just renewed for another year I find it very frustrating that there is still no import functionality 6+ months after you’ve mentioned that you are “working on it”
June 26, 2013 at 10:19 am #52290Leah
MemberHi Will,
I understand how that is frustrating, and I apologize. We’re a small company and while we have a lot of exciting plans, we can only do so much and we prioritize based on what we can do and what people want. The CSV Importer proved to be a bigger project than anticipated, and one that was less in-demand then The Events Calendar 3.0, which we have been focused on recently. When it became clear that bundling the CSV Importer into 3.0 was going to delay the project further, we opted to finish 3.0 before returning to work on the importer.
That being said, I know that importer functionality can be make-or-break for some projects. We do have a beta available, although like all betas it still has some issues and is still very much in-progress. If you’re interested in trying that out, please email us at pro (at) tri.be for more details. Alternatively, if you feel that you need to move to a different solution, I can look into refunding you for your recent renewal.
Best,
