    Hey Guys –

We’re having a weird issue where the event details (in the content section) are not getting displayed when you click on a single event. We haven’t made any changes to the templates, etc. The description works if we switch to a “built in” template layout, but not if we use the wide “Default Events Template” .

I looked at the source between the two and it’s weird, it’s not even being populated. It just has a comment code for where the details are supposed to go and then nothing. It works fine on other themes, so I know it’s an issue with this one, but I don’t know where to begon to seek a solution..

    Here’s an example: http://meiklejohnpta.com/event/running-club-special-pumpkin-charm-day/

Any help would be Greatly appreciated!!!

    Hi Matt,

You should try and use the Default Page Template or other template option if it works. Is there a reason why you don’t want to use that?

That would actually be my preference, but I want the sidebar removed from the calendar view. For some reason, my wide (no sidebar) template (as well as all the other templates) are all defaulting to the default template and not working correctly.

    Hi Matt,

You can remove the sidebar on the calendar view, you’ll just need to modify a little PHP and CSS to get this looking good. Can you post a copy of your theme’s page.php file to http://snippi.com/ so I can take a look and help you try some things? It would also help if you could apply the Default Page Template so I can look at your site and see what’s in place. Set that up and shoot me the code and I should be able to help you.

    Thanks,
    Jonah

    Hi Jonah –

OK, I’ve got default pages for you..

Here’s the template we want to use:
    http://meiklejohnpta.com/one-column-no-side-bar-template/

    Here’s the default:
    http://meiklejohnpta.com/default-page/

I do not have a page.php file actually.. It seems to be running from files called template-onecolumn.php etc on up. And those then call loop.php. It’s very confusing. Let me know what you’d like to see the code for (or multiple) and I’ll get on it. Thanks so much for reaching out.

Hey Matt: thanks for the follow-up here, and apologies you haven’t gotten a response yet today. Jonah is unfortunately out this week and so the team is a bit stretched thin. However, I have passed this to another one of our devs who understands the situation and will be looking into it first thing in the morning. Expect a response from us no later than 24 hours from now and thanks again for your patience so far.

    Hi Matt!

Rob asked me to take a look at this: unfortunately the loop.php and loop-post-formats.php code you linked to is taking me to a 404 not found page.

It’s probably going to be a lot easier if you could shoot the theme across to me in .zip format – then I can quickly inspect whatever files I need to – simply make sure your email is clearly for my attention and send it across ([email protected]).

If that isn’t possible for any reason just let me know and we’ll figure something else out.

    Hey Matt,

Barry wasn’t in today, so I’m not sure if he got an email from you or not. Either way, he’ll back back next week and we’ll continue to work through this. Thanks for your patience!

Hi Matt, thanks for your patience while I tested this out.

The description works if we switch to a “built in” template layout, but not if we use the wide “Default Events Template” .

Using the Default Events Template and with Graphene V2 1.4.1 activated I am able to see the description for single events.

So though I note you stated that you tried deactivating all other plugins when you opened this thread could I ask you to confirm this and let me know if there is anything else I would need to put in place to replicate the problem?

    HI Barry –

Do you have the option to switch to the wide page? (no sidebar) – That’s where we’re having our issues. And yes, I was able to test in a sandbox environment with no plug-in’s. Not on the live site, but in a test.

    Thanks!

So what you mean is, you are having problems when you select One column, no sidebar from Events > Settings > Templates > Events Template?

I think the strategy I would employ here is to use template overrides and make use of ecp-page-template.php and ecp-single-template.php.

That way you can keep the sidebar in single event views and dispose of it on month calendar views – there is some good information about template overrides here – does that help?

Hey Matt, just wanted to check in to confirm per Barry’s note above. This should give you what you need to move forward but please confirm before I close this thread out. Cheers!
