ParticipantBuilding a new site, and the first time using TEC PRO with the Genesis Framework/Dynamik theme combo. For whatever reason, the individual event page doesn’t show the event details, only the title and body of the post. The date, time, venue, etc doesn’t appear. Same thing in the event category listing, also no event header/view etc.
Is there something I’m doing wrong? Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere. If so, please direct me to where. Thanks.

MemberHi onelittlemoose,
I visited the URL you provided to try and get a better picture of what’s happening but was unable to locate an event/your main events page. Would you be able to provide a URL where I can see that?
Thanks!

MemberHi onelittlemoose, it looks to me like your theme is trying to show the post excerpt and is thus condensing The Events Calendar’s output. We do have a fix for something similar that can occur for the main events view with Genesis, however this of course is subtly different.
Does this same problem happen if you simply use Genesis itself (or some other child theme) – in other words, is it specific to Dynamik?

ParticipantThanks, Barry.
I changed it back to plain Genesis, and everything appeared fine. So it seems it’s Dynamik. I added the suggested code into Dynamik’s functions, and no change. The output isn’t garbled so much as it’s just showing the body of the post, and not showing the meta (? if that’s the correct term) of the event, such as date, venue, etc.
Any ideas? Many thanks.

Yep it wouldn’t work with this particular issue though I still think a similar issue is at play: in your case it won’t appear quite as garbled (that term is mine and strictly non-technical!) either, owing to the nature of the content (here it is a single event post being turned into an excerpt, rather than a calendar grid).
Bear with me while I have a quick chat to the team. The problem is that although we can offer some fixes for common themes like Genesis, when we get into the realm of specific child themes it becomes a little trickier – we don’t have access to every theme out there and it may have specific hooks and a structure all of its own.
I’ll let you know what we can do here as soon as I can, thanks for your patience ๐

MemberDoes toggling between the different available event templates (in Events โ Settings โ Display – such as Default Page Template and Default Events Template) resolve this?
October 9, 2013 at 11:32 am #70159Norine Leibel
ParticipantThanks, Barry. You might be onto something here. I changed it to Default Events Template and presto it seems to work. The individual event now seems to work also.
The only challenge is that I’d prefer having the sidebar there, which the default events template doesn’t have. Is there an easy-ish way to address that?

MemberWell, it’s potentially as easy as overriding and customizing default-template.php and dropping in a dynamic_sidebar() call for whichever sidebar you want to load – that said, with some theme frameworks there may be a framework-specific way of accomplishing the same thing which may be a better practice in that context, but we’ll need to leave you to investigate that ๐
Hope that helps!
