Event Contributor as User

I am trying to enter in some events for an event contributor. I would like to change it to their username so that they can see it in their list of events. When I go to change the user, under Quick Edit, the event contributor users do not show up. Is there a way to change the user so that they can edit it or amend it? OR do I actually have to sign in as them. I am an admin.

Is it possible the users have a basic Subscriber role? You may find they need to at least be Authors.
