Event Categories and month/list view

Hi there
I’ve created 4 event categories, but I created a custom menu on the right side bar for ‘Events by type’. It lists the categories, but doesn’t show or group all under that category in the way that the normal ‘post categories’ does. I’d ultimately like to click on an event category and see all that are tagged to that. Also – in the main feed page, it also doesn’t show the event category – it simply shows the ‘date, by author, in ‘ and it’s blank because the event category isn’t showing.

Also-is there a way of displaying the calendar month view AND the list at the same time?
