ParticipantHaving an issue removing the mini calendar from the mini calender widget using the instructions you posted in the tutorial section. When I access my site’s backend the file tree I have for event-calender-pro is different than what is shown in the tutorial so I’m not sure if that is messing it up or not but I really want the functionality you describe. Thanks for any help you can provide

MemberOK – can you describe what your file structure looks like and explain how/where it differs?

Participantyour file path from tutorial: plugins/events-calendar-pro/views/widgets/mini-calendar-widget.php
my file path to same .php file: plugins/events-calendar-pro/views/pro/widgets/mini-calendar-widget.php
there is the extra subfolder pro in mine.I tried copying file to the recommended file path /tribe-events/pro/views/widgets/ from the tutorial as well as /tribe-events/pro/views/pro/widgets/ to see if that worked and neither seemed to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

MemberAhh, I see. Sorry for the confusion. The correct path (for your theme override) is:
themes/(your-theme)/tribe-events/pro/widgets/mini-calendar-widget.php
Does that help? We’ll certainly update the tutorial.

ParticipantNow the Widget is displaying nothing at all. Deleted the original file path and file and started over from the initial source file into the corrected path you indicated above and the whole widget disappeared. At least before I was getting the calendar and events to display…
Any other suggestions?March 31, 2014 at 3:20 pm #125580Barry
MemberWell that’s not good!
Just to clarify, you’re saying that this happens with an exact duplicate of the original template placed within your theme? Or do you mean it occurs after trying to follow the steps in the tutorial?

ParticipantNot exactly sure what you are asking. When I first posted to the forum I had the issue where the widget was still showing the calendar and not just the list following the instructions in the tutorial. I thought that could have been due to the different file paths. Today I placed a copy of the mini-calendar-widget.php file into the file path noted in your suggested fix above after deleting the previous “new” file and path and now the widget doesn’t show up at all. I haven’t gone back to the original to see if that is working as I moved on to something else but can do so if needed.

ParticipantI deleted the file path to the “fix” and the calendar is showing again. Just FYI.

MemberOK – sorry for the confusion.
What I was trying to figure out was if you had set up the template override correctly. I’m guessing you did, however on reviewing the tutorial it looks like it was out of date in more ways than just the template path.
Can you give it another try, but this time use this code for your custom template?
Let me know how you get on!

ParticipantThat worked. Thanks! I also see where there was some code to list events outside of the current month if there weren’t enough from that month to reach the # you wanted, but there was a disclaimer that it could cause other issues. Seeing as though I’m not a developer I’m not going to add that code anywhere, but would be very interested in knowing if you all have developed a fix for that as a combination of the no calendar which I now have and it would work for my application perfectly! I want to have a list of say 8 event display that will be over a course of 5 months or so. Please let me know or point me in the right direction. Thanks as always!

MemberI’m really sorry we missed your last reply: if you’ve got further issues you need help with though (bearing in mind the support we can offer for custom dev questions is limited) definitely do go ahead and post a new thread and one of the team will be only too happy to help 🙂
