Our client needs to do the following, and I’ve watched some of your videos and read that some of this is supported, but wanted to put it down just as the client inquired of us. Can someone please reply to each?

    1. Date Splits – Our client has a few events that repeat, but on different weeks and for 2-3 days in a row.
It seems that the new Recurring Events part of your PRO version does this, just want to confirm?
    – Sample event, part 1 = 05/31-06/01 from 10am-5pm; part 2 = 06/06-06/08 from 10am-5pm
    – So we’d need to show both dates in one recurring event (if possible) but with 3 days selected
(both are Friday-Sunday) 2 weeks in a row
    – Also need to show start/end times per day, not from 05/31 @ 10am to 06/01 @ 5pm as the free
    version would.

    2. Repeating Day of Week – From what I’ve seen on the videos for Recurring Events, this seems to
    be easy to do, yes?

    3. Multi-faceted Events – Our client is a chamber of commerce, and some of the events they want to
show on the calendar may have some 20-30 events all on one day. My suggestion on this is to do a
single event and list all the things going on within the event, but the client would prefer each
event to have their own venue, start/stop times, contacts, websites, etc. Does the PRO version
do anything to help with this type of situation?

    4. Import Options – I think I checked, and there is little support for the tool to import events from
other calendars, or Google Calendar. But wanted to see if PRO offers anything for this? Our client
has 100s of events on an old site/calendar and wants to move them. I think they are in a WordPress
    post calendar. Ideas?

    5. Multi-day Event Start/Stop Times – as noted in #1 above, for recurring day events, we need start
and stop times noted per day, not connected to event, as shown below…
    – June 6 10am to 5pm
    – June 7 10am to 5pm
    – June 8 10am to 5pm
    – Currently free version only shows start on June 6 at 10am and ends on June 8 to 5pm, we need
each day to show a unique time so each day has a stop and a start time

    6. Multiple Locations per Venue – I think I found a way to do this, by using custom fields, but I was
wondering if the PRO version offered something for venues that may be unique in a larger location
    – So on local college campus, there may be 6 different locations that the events can be held
    – We would like to steer users to the specific location
    – For now, I suggested that each venue might be listed as “Some College – Theater” or
    “Some College – Student Union”
    – Is there a better way?

    7. Duplicate Events – Can an event in the Event Calendar PRO version be duplicated so it can be modified
for a new day more easily than starting from scratch?

    Hello Roger,

    1. I’m not entirely sure we can easily do that pattern as a ‘recurring event’. For us, ‘recurring event’ means (typically) a pattern that repeats of a given date/time. We can handle some sophisticated patterns, but I don’t know if 2-days + 3-days is one of them. From reading your question though I think you may have a typo. We would be able to do 3-days + 3-days, 5/30-6/1 + 6/6 + 6/8. The times would have to be identical though.

And it would appear like this:

    2. If I understand correctly, yes, you can easily have a repeating day of the week. An event every Tuesday night, for example.

    3. It really depends on the size, scope and display of the events, along with the aesthetic tastes of the site. Pro has a ‘Day’ view that will probably help with this, but this view was just recently added to Core last week.

    4. Unfortunately, we only offer CSV import for general purpose import (You can use XML to import from another Events Calendar install). Pro doesn’t offer more functionality for imports.

    5. You should easily be able to do that configuration.

    6. The “Some College – Theater” is the best answer here, since those are literal venues. They typically have an address attached to each in real life (along with GPS coordinated), which is what our plugin reflects. Perhaps in the future we will have a ‘category’ available for the ‘Venue’ CPT to group them together by location.

    7. We don’t have a duplicate feature built into the plugin, but we have used Post Duplicator with success. Your mileage may vary of course https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-duplicator/

Does this make sense? Let me know if I can explain anything else!

    Cheers!

Thanks! I think theses answers will help. New question: What about upgrading? We’ve invested a good bit of time adding events. If we go PRO, will it integrate smoothly with no harm to events already added?

    Hello Roger,

Yep! PRO is an addon, so it adds a layer of functionality on top of your existing data. We pride ourselves on how seamless it is for our users to upgrade.

That said, please make sure you have a recent backup of your site before you start! I’m assuming nothing bad will happen, but better to be safe than sorry.

    Cheers!
