ParticipantI’ve been having issues with the Events Aggregator slowing down my WordPress sites. Then, yesterday I got a notice there was an update but I got an install error and was unable to complete the upgrade.
This morning I received this notice: The plugin the-events-calendar/the-events-calendar.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.
The plug-in has been removed/uninstalled from my WordPress sites. It’s as if it was never installed at all.
Could you help with these issues, please?

ParticipantIn addition, when I try to reinstall the plug-in I get this notice:
Installing Plugin: The Events Calendar
Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/the-events-calendar.4.5.9.zip…Unpacking the package…
Installing the plugin…
Destination folder already exists. D:/REX.WordPress/travelguide/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/
Plugin install failed.

MemberHey Ashley,
Thank you for reaching out to us! I’m very sorry about this issue you are experiencing.
Based on the errors you just shared with us, your plugin files were removed/renamed via FTP, and/or the file permissions were changed and WordPress is not recognizing them anymore/ not allowing you to edit them.
I would suggest you to access your server via FTP, head over to wp-content/plugins/ rename the existing “the-events-calendar” directory to something else (you can also move this directory to another place or simply delete it, it’s up to you!), and download the latest version of the plugin from WordPress.org again.
Let me know if you need anything else in the mean time and I’ll be happy to assist!
Regards,
Patricia
