Just for clarification: Access to the event aggregator is based on a yearly fee? Why wouldn’t I choose xylus’ aggregator ? Only their updates are based on a fee structure.

You are correct, Event Aggregator is based upon an annual fee. With it, you are provided plugin updates and support in our premium forums. I do not have experience with other similar plugins, and can’t speak for the support or functionality that comes with that.
