ParticipantHello,
I use The Events Calendar Pro on 3 of my websites.
Since I updated one of these sites to the 3.9.1 version, I have an error with some browsers, including Chrome and Safari. In fact, when I load the calendar page, the following error message appears: “You may not access this page without a valid key.”
I checked my license key which is valid until the end of the current year.
I deactivated and reactivated the plugin, removed and filled the key, but it still does not work.
Any help would be welcome.
Meanwhile, I prefer not to update the other two sites…
If necessary, and pending for a fix, can you tell me how to downgrade to the 3.9 version ?

ParticipantHi again,
I have downgraded to version 3.9 but the issue is still there.
I tried to switch the license keys of two sites (which are both valid), same problem : “You may not access this page without a valid key.”
Any idea ?

ParticipantI specify :
The URL so that you can see the issue (french website) : http://www.bons-plans-voyage-new-york.com/agenda-new-york
Another URL without any problem (spanish version) : http://www.mejores-planes-viaje-nueva-york.com/eventos-nueva-york/January 18, 2015 at 8:28 pm #934508Josh
ParticipantHey,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
This is definitely a strange issue to be having. I don’t think it’s an issue with your Events Calendar license since an invalid license wouldn’t prevent any of the functionality or display on the front-end of the site at all. It would only prevent you from accessing future updates to the plugin.
Have you tried our Testing for Conflicts procedures? It appears there may be something being added by default on views making them private. Would there potentially be some type of privacy or membership features to the site?
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantHello Josh,
Many thanks for your message.
There’s something new that I just realised : actually the events page displays properly when I am logged in the WordPress admin, but I have the error message when I log out. So it has nothing to do with browsers (cf. my first message), and yes, it seems the issue is linked to a kind of permission setting.
Then, I thought about checking the plugin CHMOD permissions via the FTP, but I didn’t see anything wrong, comparing a site which works with the site which does not…
Also, I deactivated the plugins, without success.
Tonight I will try another theme to see if this issue has something to do with the theme but I doubt it because I use the same theme (and plugins) on all my 3 sites :[Spanish] http://www.mejores-planes-viaje-nueva-york.com/eventos-nueva-york/ OK
[English] http://www.new-york-city-travel-tips.com/nyc-calendar/ OK
[French] http://www.bons-plans-voyage-new-york.com/agenda-new-york KO !By the way, I updated all the sites to the 3.9.1 version of The Events Calendar, english and spanish version still work, but french still not…
Frustrating 🙂

ParticipantHey Alex,
Thanks for following up with us!
This definitely does seem to be a strange, tricky issue. One thing, when switching themes, go ahead and deactivate all plugins as well. Also, if you have a caching plugin activated, try disabling and purging the cache prior to deactivating. If the site works then, this will help to be back at a fresh state allowing you to reactivate everything one by one until you find the culprit.
Additionally, if that doesn’t help, try re-installing all the plugins by downloading fresh versions from your account and uploading via FTP. This is just in case something got messed up in the recent update process.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantOk I figured it out.
And the winner is… “Subscribe to comments” 🙂
This is perhaps a blessing in disguise, finally, since I intended to replace that old extension by something newer.
Anyway, thanks for your support Josh.
