Error importing FB Events

    WordPress Version: 3.7.1
    Plugin Versions: 3.1
    Theme: TwentyTwelve
    Active plugins: Events, Facebook Events
    Error: Either the event with ID 176667535870176 does not exist, is marked as private on Facebook or we couldn’t reach the Facebook API

    I just bought, enabled and configured the Facebook Events add-on. I’m hitting the above error for event ID 176667535870176.

    The FB event in question was created from within a Group, the app has no restrictions on country or age (the lowest setting for age is used – 13+), and I don’t see where I could set or remove any restrictions on the event itself.

    Are there any other obvious issues I may have missed checking? I’m stumped.

    Hi bmcofnc,

    What a fun group! But it seems that it is tied to a a personal profile and not a group or organization page. Due to Facebook API restrictions, we can’t import events tied to personal profiles. We try our best to emphasize this on the product page, but obviously failed in communicating that fact to you.

    If you would like a refund for the Facebook importer, please send an email to pro (at) tri.be and reference this forum thread. They can help you there.

    Ah! We are about to launch our profile page. Will that allow us to post events that are compatible with the Facebook Event Add-on plugin?

    Hey again Michael,

    Due to the Facebook API restrictions, we can only import events from Facebook Pages or Organizations, not Facebook Profiles. If you set up your group with a Facebook Page, we could import events from there. You can go here https://www.facebook.com/pages/create/ to get that set up, if that’s the way you want to go.

    Again, I apologize for the confusion. We do our best to communicate what the plugin can and can’t do. If you have any suggestions on how we could improve that, I’d love to hear them.

    Our page went live, and the page import works as you indicated. Thanks!
    Our next hurdle is times not coming in correctly.
