Embed Category Calendar in Page Template

I’m migrating from Time.ly to The Event Calendar and I’m trying to keep as much of my work as possible. With Time.ly I was running a custom query for a particular event category so that I could have an taxonomy template the way I needed it. I was also able to embed that particular category calendar above the event listings so that users could toggle the calendar open for the month view.

I’m able to run a custom query with the Event Calendar but I’m not finding any information on how to query the calendar for a particular category. The [tribe_mini_calendar] shortcode is also not an option as I need the complete calendar filtered by category.

Is there any way to pull the category filtered calendar via php?

Not sure what your customization is about but, please note you can access the different calendar views for an specific category like this: http://your_site_url/events/category/category_slug/view/ so that can be http://your_site_url/events/category/business/week/ or just http://your_site_url/events/category/business/ to access default view.

Regarding the shortcode, please bear in mind you can customize the output by passing parameters, for example: [tribe_mini_calendar category=”business”]. The article PRO Widget Shortcodes list all parameters to customize it.
