Effect of deleting old recurring events

Hi.

I just want to confirm something before clean out old events…

My understanding is that when you create a recurring event in ECP, you are in effect creating multiple individual calendar entries, and deleting a past recurring event record will not affect future recurring events. Is this correct?

For example, suppose I create a monthly event over the next 12 months and, 7 months in, decide to delete from the calendar everything older than 6 months. This will delete the original recurring event record from the calendar but have no effect the remaining entries in the series, correct?

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out. I will try to help with your question.

Your understanding is mostly correct. However, the original event cannot be deleted without deleting all of the events in the series. You could delete everything between the original and the current date for example, but the original needs to stay. The auto-delete features in the settings should respect this and not remove the original when cleaning up.
