ParticipantReporting the same or very similar problem:
When I edit a recurring event (typically I’m editing the first event in a series) the url of the event is changed and therefore a user can’t view the full details because the slug has been changed adding this at the end: /all/. However, it only affects the url of the individual event I edit. See example below. This error is happening every time I edit a series. I have found a work around…… Once I have edited the recurring series, I then have to break the edited event away from the series by editing it again and making it a single event.
Example:
I edited the first event in a recurring series:
http://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/event/clear-round-mix-n-match-xc-sj/2017-03-26/The slug of the event was changed to:
http://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/event/clear-round-mix-n-match-xc-sj/all/
I had to edit the event and break it from the series, it changed the url to: http://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/event/clear-round-mix-n-match-xc-sj/
The url should be: http://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/event/clear-round-mix-n-match-xc-sj/2017-03-26/
But at least users can now view the events. If you click the title of the second event in the series, it opens the following url correctly: http://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/event/clear-round-mix-n-match-xc-sj/2017-04-22/
I’m not yet able to update the plugin to the latest version as there is a conflict with the Community Events plugin on my website and I would prefer to wait until the latest version is stable before I upgrade.

MemberGood evening Sally and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear that you are facing the same issue as Robert while breaking an event from the series. I would love to help you with this topic.
As indicated in that other thread, it turns out this is not a new issue, but rather something that has been there for a while (without anybody noticing).
Unfortunately, there is no quick fix available for this. But the good news is that 4.5 should solve this once and for all.
In the meantime, short of deleting the series altogether and creating it again without the undesired event, there is no know workaround unfortunately.
I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.
You will be contacted as soon as this issue is addressed.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,
Geoff B.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!

MemberHi Sally!
I just wanted to share with you that a new release of our plugins is out, where we added a message to warn users about the URL changes when breaking an event out of its series:
“When you break events from a series their URLs will change, so any users trying to use the original URLs will receive a 404 Not Found error. If this is a concern, consider using a suitable plugin to setup and manage redirects.”
You can find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-for-the-week-of-9-september-2018/
We are currently working on improving the recurring events functionality altogether, so the URL change is likely to be solved in the near future. Until then, we suggest setting up a plugin to handle the redirects.
We apologize for the long delay in getting back to you. Let us know if you have any follow up question.
Best,
Victor -
