ParticipantHi there,
I’ve recently updated Tribe Calendar to the pro version, but ever since then, there seems to be an issue with the Community Events add-on, specifically to the edit_organizer.php-file. Given the fact that your Danish translations are quite poor, I have had to translate the field names manually inside the .php-files, and I did this before updating to the pro version. Now, after I updated, I can’t seem to change the edit_organizer-file – it seems as if the updates I uploaded before upgrading to pro are ‘stuck’ in a database somewhere. I’ve tried clearing the cache and deactivating pro, but no luck with either. Is there perhaps a clash between files in PRO and Community?
Best,
Soren Romer

ParticipantI should clarify: the file I’m having trouble with is organizer-fields.php – not edit-organizer.php as posted. Sorry for the inconvenience…

MemberHey Soren,
Thanks for reaching out! I’ll help you figuring out what’s going on here!
Regarding translations, we have a new site that host all translated languages and allow users to easily contribute new strings. All of our translations are contributed by the community – you are welcome to help with Danish 🙂
On the compatibility issue: Community and Pro should run smoothly together. Have you edited the file directly in the plugin folder or did you create a template override in your theme?
Please let me know about this,

ParticipantHi Nico,
I’ve edited it through the template override. It’s weird, because all the other files work smoothly, also after I upgraded to PRO. It’s specifically the organizer-fields.php file that won’t update. I’ve tried to replace it with the original file, but nothing changes on the front-end — it’s still stuck with the first edits I made…

MemberHi Soren,
Thanks for the follow-up!
This sounds really strange, our plugin tries to get the template from the /tribe-events/ folder in the theme, if there’s no template override then it fetches it from the plugin folder. The easiest way to test this is to switch the theme to WordPress default Tweentyfifteen and clear all caches. I see you are using a child theme please be sure to also check for a /tribe-events/ folder in the parent theme.
Please give that a try and let me know,

ParticipantYeah, it doesn’t work still… If you can set me up as a Danish translator, I’ll start doing the translations generically. That way it should help others as well 🙂

MemberHey Soren,
Thanks for following up on this!
Can you confirm you switched themes and this is still happening? Also that you’ve checked in the parent theme for an override?
Regarding the translations, just create a user account in our translations site and submit the translated strings. You can check the details on this article: Adding or updating a translation.
Thanks a lot,

ParticipantYeah, I’ve tried w/ twenty-fifteen theme and checked for parent-theme overrides. Theres are no obvious conflicts taking place, as far as I can see…

ParticipantAlso, could you set up ‘Danish’ under the community events add-on on the translation page? 🙂

MemberHey Soren,
I’ve enabled the Danish translations for Community, check it out here.
Regarding the original ‘organizer-fields.php’ file, Can we recap a bit on the issue? After updating you say that what you see in the front-end of the site doesn’t reflect the original -plugin folder- file content? Event with un-modified default theme and no other plugins active?
Hope we can get to the root of this issue soon,
Thanks for the patience so far,
Best,

ParticipantHi Nico,
Yup, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. For whichever reason that single file, organizer-fields.php, seems ‘stuck’ in a prior edit I did. I have since replaced the edited file with the original file, but the hardcoded edits I made are still the ones visible at front-end level. I have tried to deactivate other plugins and tested it with twenty-fifteen, but the result is the same.

MemberHi Soren,
Thanks for confirming that and sorry this is taking so much back and forth!
So if you created a template override, it should be deactivated when you switch to TweentyFifteen theme. Have you modified the file in the plugin folder? In that case I guess reinstalling the plugins should clear out any edits you’ve made. Does that makes sense to you?
Please try re-installing the plugins + testing it with un-modified TweentyFifteen theme, also remember to clear site’s cache after doing so. Also please make sure your browser cache is not in the way -you can use an incognito window just to make sure.
Also please point me to the page in your site showing this so I can check for any other clues!
Hope we can to the bottom of this, sounds really tricky so far.

ParticipantHi Nico,
The page in question is http://www.gew.dk/events/offentlig – but please not that I have used some javascript to paper over the cracks, so the issue isn’t immediately visible.
I can confirm that I haven’t modified the plugin at the root./Soren

MemberHey Soren,
Thanks for following up! Digging a bit on this, I’m mostly sure the issue is related to the multiple organizers feature introduced in 3.11.
Can you check on this Brian’s comment about organizer fields template? https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/add-required-label-to-organizer-fields/#dl_post-999699
Not sure why you are still seeing your previous changes, but hope this new information can help you figure out what’s happening there!
Please let me know about it,

ParticipantHi Nico,
By the immediate look of it, there’s nothing there to shed light on the issue. However, my js-patches are doing the trick for now, so unless you want do dig deeper into the issue, I’m fine to close this thread..
Best
