ParticipantWhen I edit a recurring event and hit update, the page gets stuck with the “processing” icon spinning to the left of the update button. All plugins & WP are the latest version.
I saw an earlier answer where adding this code to the functions file was suggested (assuming the overlay is not showing): https://gist.github.com/jazbek/6169607. I tried this but it didn’t fix my problem.
Can you please suggest what I should do next? Thank you!

I see that you tried deactivating all other plugins and changing to a default WP Theme like Twenty Twelve. Did that have any effect on the behavior?
The snippet you refer to was used to alleviate an issue where the box to select either one or all instances of the event was overlaid with a grey “miasma”. If that’s not the issue you’re experiencing, it wouldn’t be applicable here.
Does the dialog asking you to select whether your change will be applied to one or all of the events ever appear?

ParticipantNo, that dialog box asking if my change is for one or all events does not appear. I assume that’s the problem. (btw, updating a regular NON-recurring event works fine). I believe this problem started happening when my client updated the site to the latest WP… also, fyi, other actions on the event edit page that use overlays work fine, like setting the featured image, adding media, etc.

I see from your initial post that you tested by deactivating all other plugins and reverting to a default WP theme. Would you mind telling me a bit about how that went? Was the issue still occurring when you were using Twenty Twelve as your theme and only had The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO activated?

ParticipantAfter doing some trouble shooting, I’ve figured out that the problem only occurs when another plug-in is activated (Meta Slider Lite’s latest version http://www.metaslider.com/) — so now that I’ve pinpointed the conflict, what’s the best resolution? I’d like to continue using both plug-ins.

If you wouldn’t mind asking metaslider, that would probably be the best course of action. I’m sure that they’ll be eager to hear about it.
