ParticipantI can add events, and they show up on the calendar, but not on the edit events page. I can click on all, or public, or pending, or trash, and no events show up. I don’t have a filter on.
The person who was posting the events said it was working one second, and not the next.
Any suggestions as to what’s causing this or how to fix it?August 31, 2013 at 9:50 am #63946readdie
ParticipantOkay, it’s almost September and I’m getting nervous. Facebook Events automatically imports our Events and makes them pending. Then we go to Edit Events, and edit and approve them. Right now though, in Edit Events, NO events are showing up. This is bad.
The events we’ve previously imported show up fine. I can even edit them when I click directly on the event. When we create new events, they show up fine. But when we click Edit Events, the headers read
All (266) |
Published (72) |
Pending (194) |
Trash (68)
but if you click on any of these NOTHING shows up. Any idea as to what could make this happen, or how to fix it?
Could it have to do the the wordpress permalink structure? PHP error? A weird database error? I don’t really know what I’m talking about, I’m just throwing ideas out there.September 3, 2013 at 3:13 pm #64365Barry
MemberHi Readdie,
I see you noted that you tried deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default theme. Can you confirm if that had any effect and if it enabled you to isolate anything as causing this issue?
Could you also confirm if you happen to be running a multisite network here?
Thanks!
September 3, 2013 at 11:23 pm #64416readdie
ParticipantThanks for your reply. No multisite network.
I had indeed deactivated all non-tribe plugins and used a default theme. BUT – After reading your post, I went back and deactivated all tribe plug-ins too.
Get this, if I deactivate Events Calendar Pro, I can see the events in Edit Events again! Weird! But I can have Events Calendar, WooTickets, Community Events, and Facebook Events all running fine. But as soon as I activate Events Calendar Pro, the events in Edit Events disappear again. Should I just try to reinstall Events Calendar Pro, or do you suggest something else?September 4, 2013 at 6:16 am #64454Barry
MemberThat definitely sounds strange. Manually reinstalling Events Calendar PRO could be worth a shot – I do wonder also if it is possible some of your plugins are out of synch: would it be possible for you to visit the plugin admin screen and let me know which versions of our plugins you are using (I see 3.0.5 when you opened the thread but it’s important the other plugins in the suite are in synch with this).
Thanks!

ParticipantI am getting the same problem. I will disable the pro version and see if it works and report back. Stephen

ParticipantI disabled them and put the events calendar by its self and I still can not access the pending or draft events. This is a real problem, I did not know this way happening. Please advise on how to access to see what companies have put on the community calendar.

ParticipantThe Events Calendar Version 3.0.3
The Events Calendar: Community Events Version 3.0.1
The Events Calendar: Facebook Events Version 3.0.1
The Events Calendar PRO Version 3.0.5
WooTickets Version 3.0.2I tried reinstalling Events Calendar PRO, no dice.
If I activate ONLY The Events Calendar, and no other plug-ins, I can see events in Edit Events. If I activate The Events Calendar PRO after that, then it says “no events found.” But it still shows the number of published, pending, and trashed events I have!September 5, 2013 at 5:46 am #64645Barry
MemberThanks readdie,
We’ve got at least one other thread describing a very similar issue, so bear with me and we’ll have a chat this morning to see how we want to proceed with this.
@Stephen: thanks for the heads up. Definitely feel free to monitor this thread, but it’s still quite possible the cause in your case is something different (in which case it would be better to create a new thread of your own).
Thanks both of you for your support and patience 🙂

MemberJust as a matter of comparing notes against a very similar thread, did you change the site URL (domain name) at any point? Though that shouldn’t present a problem even if you did I’m just interested in establishing any commonality between the two reports. Thanks again!

ParticipantOur site started as an html site, and we made it a wordpress site recently.
I’ll tell you two incidents that we might have in common.
1. I toyed around with the idea of making a subscription site, and ran a piece of software (on my personal computer) that took over the .htaccess file and privatized the website. I couldn’t get in! I ended up pretty much deleting the .htaccess file, or at least what my cpanel would let me delete. It wasn’t the software’s fault it was mine. Realize I’m using terms that I don’t fully grasp and hope you understand what I’m talking about. I’m doing this stuff myself until I can afford to hire pros to do it!
2. I tried to add one of these snippits (https://theeventscalendar.com/moving-the-ticket-form/) and quickly found myself out of my depth. I added a functions.php to my child theme, found the site wasn’t loading any more, and deleted it immediately. I had made an opening and closing php tag, (actually I read you DON’T want to add a closing tag, and tried it without it one, too) and drop the code snippit between them. Like I said my site didn’t work, so I panicked, deleted, and gave up.September 5, 2013 at 7:03 pm #64828Barry
MemberOK, thanks for sharing. I don’t think either of those things would impact, but it’s definitely worth reviewing things like this.
What we’re doing right now is working with another customer who has reported a problem that is very similar in nature and hopefully that will turn up some answers about what is causing this. That may take a number of working days to complete – so this thread may ‘fall silent’ for a period, but do know that that doesn’t mean we’ve lost interest or have stopped working on it.
Thanks for your continued patience 🙂

MemberHi everyone, thanks first and foremost for your patience.
In at least one other case this problem seems to have stemmed from a limitation within the hosting environment (where certain types and sizes of database query are limited). It’s worth trying this fix and seeing if it resolves the problem – this could be added to your theme’s functions.php file (but do note the opening <?php tag can normally be omitted).
Thanks!

ParticipantWow, that completely worked! Thank you!
What can I tell my hosting provider to do (or what do I have to buy) to improve the hosting environment? I’m afraid it may affect other programs or plug-ins too. If this is beyond the scope of support, I understand.Incidentally, I was able to get the snippets to work, I just didn’t get the concept of opening and closing tags, embarrassing, I know.

MemberSo long as it’s working it’s all good 🙂
So what we suspect the problem is, is a limit affecting the number of joins allowed in a single query and your host may have that in place to prevent any one website/application from impacting adversely on other sites hosted on the same server.
You could definitely ask them if this is the case and/or check if they can lift any such limitation.
