ParticipantHi guys,
Very urgent one as I have over 20,000 users.
Since updating Event Calendar pro to the latest, it completely messes up my blog/media and all other parts of my site. For example, when I enable, in my blog the wrong pictures are displayed, links navigate to the wrong pages etc, all was fine before updating.
Please help urgently if possible

MemberGood evening Anthony and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us and for providing your system information.
We are sorry to hear about the layout being broken by activating the Events Calendar.
This was certainly unexpected and unintended. We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing.I would love to help you with this topic.
As a first step, after activating the plugin, can you:
- Go to Settings > Permalinks and re-save your permalinks
- Go to Events -> Settings -> Display and re-save your settings there and perhaps change the settings for Events Template to see if that helps ?
Secondly, could you tell me if in Events -> Settings -> General the Include events in main blog loop option is checked ?
Finally, would it be possible to send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I suspect there might be theme conflict at play here that I need to test.
In the meantime, after a database backup, you might consider rolling back to the previous version until we figure out what is going on.
You will find the files of the previous versions here:
- the Events Calendar free: https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/developers/
- the premium plugins: https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi Geoff,
I have attempted all above and still not luck, it does look like a theme conflict, you can find my theme and child theme here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ydp0rl1e403vg3f/themeforest-12468676-foundry-multipurpose-multiconcept-wp-theme%20%281%29.zip?dl=0
Please let me know if you need anything else.

MemberGood evening Anthony,
Thank you for your files.
I have been able to run some pretty extensive tests and I believe I have found the cause of the issue.
It looks like version 4.2+ of the Events Calendar Pro breaks oEmbeds (such as YouTube). We are sorry about all of the inconvenience this has caused and a bug fix is underway.
Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date at this point. But stay tuned, you will be informed as soon as the fix is out.
In the meantime, I have a couple of workarounds for you:
- You can roll back to the Events Calendar 4.1.3 by grabbing a copy from your downloads page (as suggested earlier). You don’t need to roll back the Events Calendar free.
- You could add the following snippet to your theme’s functions.php https://git.io/vo5f9 . You don’t need to rollback with this solution, but you will need to re-save your content as it does not fix things retroactively.
Best regards and thank you for bringing this to our attention,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi Geoff,
The snippet (work around 2) worked like a charm.
Just FYI it did actually work retroactively, I did not have to re save anything after adding to my child theme functions.
One last question, in your next release or fix for this issue, when I update the plugin, should I then delete this snippet from functions?
Thanks again.

MemberGood afternoon Anthony,
I am super stoked that this fixed it for you.
Thank you for letting me know that it worked retroactively, that’s good to know. One last question, in your next release or fix for this issue, when I update the plugin, should I then delete this snippet from functions?
Yes, absolutely.
You are welcome back on our support forums any time 🙂
For now, I am going to close this thread. But, as promised, you will be contacted as soon as the fix is out.
Have a great week!

We wanted to follow-up to let you know that we were able to patch this up in The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO 4.2.2, which are both now available to download and install if you haven’t done so already.
Please do be sure to check out our release notes for a full overview of what’s new in the release and feel free to let us know if you run into this or any other issues after the update.
