Carlos
ParticipantHey guys!
Tried to install Simple:Press Forum and I got the following error which prevented the plugin from installing. I noticed that the conflict seemed to be related with something ECP is associated with. Any ideas?Fatal error: Cannot redeclare sp_get_option() (previously declared in /home/sust9851/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/template-tags-deprecated.php:214) in /home/sust9851/public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-primitives.php on line 91
Also any word on when the Community Events plugin is rolling out 🙂 ?
thanks!

MemberHey Carlos: interesting issue here. What version of the Events Calendar/PRO are you running? 2.0.5 for both? And have you made sure no older versions are running alongside it? I haven’t seen that problem before but will try and dig up what I can for you on it.
On the Community side: hopefully within the next few weeks. We’re re-engineering some of the core functionality, which is pushing the launch a bit, but we’re confident the end result will be a better product for everyone…so it’s worth it. Sorry I couldn’t offer a more concrete timetable than that, though.

ParticipantMorning Rob. Just took a look at the site. Running 2.05 for both Events Cal & Pro updated through the plugin interface in WordPress. Only have one instance of Events Cal and Pro installed. I deactivated EC & ECP, activated Simple:Press, then reactivated EC and I get the same error except the roles are reversed an EC cannot activate due to the same conflict.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare sp_get_option() (previously declared in /home/sust9851/public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-primitives.php:74) in /home/sust9851/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/template-tags-deprecated.php on line 214Hopefully you guys have some ideas…both ECP and the forum play key roles on my site. Simple:Press seemed like the best reviewed option out there..but if you guys have any suggestions I’m open to it.
thanks!

MemberThanks for the heads up, Carlos. Not sure what would be going on here – let me see if one of our devs can comment as to why you’d be receiving that message.

MemberHey Jeremy, thanks. Since this is outside my area of expertise, I’ve asked a member of our dev team to take a look and try to help you and Carlos directly. We can’t integration with everything out there but at the same time, since there are multiple users facing this, it’d be good to get an answer on. My guess is the best we’d be able to offer up is a patch in a future release but let’s see what the dev has to say. Stay tuned!

MemberHi again Jeremy. Just wanted to follow-up on this now that I’ve had a chance to review with the dev team. Looks like this similar issue came up on the open source forums a few months back, in case you were interested in the thread as a point of reference it’s here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-the-events-calendar-fatal-error-cannot-redeclare-sp_get_option?replies=4.
Essentially, sp_get_option is a deprecated function, meaning it’s only there for backwards compatibility. Anyone who runs into the error above can simply delete the function as explained in the WP.org forum linked to above.
That being said, for 2.0.6 (our next release at this point), we’ve added a wrapper around the function’s definition to make sure it doesn’t already exist before adding it; that will avoid any errors/conflicts going forward. 2.0.6 should be out at the start of May — so within a week or two max.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you’ve got any other questions here.
