ParticipantHey guys. I got really excited to see ECP 3.0 was up for the public. I’m afraid, however, that it hasn’t addressed the Thesis 2.x conflicts, and has actually created new ones for Thesis 1.x.
First, the Thesis 2 site is at mcplib.org. The “/events/” page originally 404’d when I updated. I messed with the permalinks, uninstalled/reinstalled the plugins, created/trashed/recreated pages, changed the template displays and styles to all of the available options, and tried the Themer’s Guide instructions. The best I could come up with was that now the main Calendar page just mirrors the home page, but kinda jacked up (Thesis canvas shows it as the “Home” template, even though I’ve tried forcing a new template on it with no success). I’ve deactivated plugins and reverted to WP 2011 theme. In WP 2011, the calendar view displays as it should.
The other site, turnaroundtour.com, is still a Thesis 1.85 site. When I updated to ECP 3.0, it made the main calendar page go to 404. I tried resetting the permalinks, deactivated plugins, etc. I set it to WP 2011 theme, and I see the main calendar page, even though the title, as with another user, displays “Page Not Found”. I tried the suggestion for her, even though I’m not sure if she’s running Thesis, to no avail.
I know you all said you’ve done “heavy testing” with ECP 3.0 and Thesis, so this makes it extra disappointing to have this issue. I wish I wouldn’t have upgraded just yet. If there is a jerry-rig process to making the product work with Thesis 1.x and 2.x, it would be much appreciated if there could be a video made to detail the process. I’ve tried the steps in the Themer’s Guide with a few different variations, to no avail. I just don’t know how to get the Custom Templates to fit in with the Thesis Templates. Curiously, the “Events” Template automatically installs and works with single events in Thesis 2, even though it doesn’t display all of the event information outside of the description. Single events seem to display okay in the Thesis 1.85 site.

Sorry for letting you down on this one Derek – can I ask though where you saw references to the above?
I believe we are still planning on building a tutorial (or set of tutorials) to help guide Thesis users through integration, but that is still in the works and has not yet been released.

ParticipantTurns out the “heavy testing” statement was on a cached version of the FAQ page and referencing ECP 2.0, but I have been reassured in support emails that ECP 3.0 would be compatible with out of the box. I relayed that to my clients, so I went ahead with the upgrade.
Do y’all have a fix for my situation and are waiting on getting it formatted for a tutorial, or are you still trying to figure out the fix? I know there has been a mass exodus from Thesis since version 2, but I’ve put in the to master the theme and am sticking with it. If I don’t have a timeline on using ECP 3.0 with my new sites, I’m going to have to start using another calendar plugin.

MemberWe don’t have a fix at this time (and sorry for any confusion that resulted from the cached FAQ page). All I can reiterate is that we plan on developing a tutorial or set of tutorials to support customers who also use Thesis 2.0 – but that is still to be actioned and we can’t project when it will be ready at this point.
I’m not sure what the content of the support emails you are referring to was – but it would be highly unusual for us to give a commitment like that with respect to any third party theme. That said, if we did indeed write that or otherwise wrote something that misled you then I can only apologize.
Thesis 2.0 is significantly different in structure from most other themes, particularly if a standard theme like Twenty Twelve is taken as a baseline standard. The reality of that from our perspective is that providing support in relation to Thesis becomes operationally challenging and we have therefore concentrated our resources in other areas.
I definitely realize that is going to be disappointing and if that means our plugin is no longer the right fit for you that’s also a disappointment on our end, but there isn’t too much else we can offer here.

ParticipantI appreciate you being upfront. Should my Thesis 1.8.5 site be an easy fix, though? I had made the original adjustments to ECP 2.x on that site to make it work, but the upgrade to ECP 3.0 made the main events page 404. I have some other Thesis 1.x sites using ECP 2.x and I want to make sure that I have the solution to be able to upgrade on all of them. Thanks.

MemberMy recollection is that Thesis has historically offered challenges, not just Thesis 2.0 – and I’m afraid that I’m not really in a position to say how The Events Calendar 3.0 and Thesis 1.x will work together.
You can definitely try them out from the safety of a testing/development environment and give it a shot, of course, but the support we can provide at this point for any version of Thesis is very limited.
