I’m using The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus in combination with WooCommerce.
There seem to be missing some Dutch translations in the .po files from these plugins.

    – In the confirmation mail I’d like to translate “You’ll receive your tickets in another email.”
    – In the mail with the actual tickets I’d like to translate “Check in for this event” and “Scan this QR code at the event to check in.”

I can’t find these strings in the .po files.
Any suggestions on how to solve this?

Thanx in advance for your response.

    Kind regards, Edwin

    Hey @Edwin,

Thanks for reaching out. Can you share your “System Information” here? Here’s how to do that → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

I’m curious because our most recent version of the plugin does have this string translatable.

In terms of missing translations at any time, this is unfortunately not something we can take much action on in most cases. I’m sorry about this! The reason why is that translations are almost purely community-submitted – to learn more about the processes involved, check out the following knowledgebase articles:

    • Translating The Events Calendar: http://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/translating-the-events-calendar/

    • Translating our premium add-ons: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/adding-or-updating-a-translation/

    • Changing the language on your site: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/changing-the-language-on-your-calendar/

    I hope this information helps.

    Thank you!

    Hi George,

    Thanks for your response.
For some strange reason the “Help” page under “Events -> Settings” only shows a blank page.
Is there any other way I can provide my System Information?
    I’m using:
    WordPress 4.4.1–nl_NL
    – Contact Form 7 4.3.1
    – Easy FancyBox 1.5.7
    – Easy Twitter Feed Widget 0.5
    Event Tickets Plus 4.0.4

    – Flamingo 1.3

    – Page Links To 2.9.6
    – Pronamic Cookies 0.3.1
    – Really Simple CAPTCHA 1.8.0.1
    – Share-Widget 1.2.0
    The Events Calendar 4.0.4
    – UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore 1.11.20
    – Woo Checkout Field Editor Pro 1.0.8
    – WooCommerce Customizer 2.1.1
    – WooCommerce Pay for Payment 1.3.7
    – WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips 1.5.26
    WooCommerce 2.4.13
    – iDEAL Checkout 1.0
    – Yoast SEO 3.0.7
    ..with no available updates.

There’s also one other issue concerning ‘user roles’ (but maybe I should start a separate thread for this):
I don’t want to give my client admin rights.
However, when I make her ‘shop manager’ she can manage her orders but she can’t manage events.
And if I make her ‘editor’, she can manage events/tickets but she can’t manage her orders.
I’ve tried to use different plugins to manage user roles, but activating those makes the WordPress dashboard go blank.
The only way to restore this was by manually deleting those plugins through FTP again.

I hope you can be of some more assistance.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards, Edwin

Btw, the translation on http://translations.theeventscalendar.com/projects/event-tickets-plus/nl/default differs from the .po file in the plugin folder of your latest release.
This translation does indeed contain the strings “You’ll receive your tickets in another email.” and “Check in for this event”, however still not “Scan this QR code at the event to check in.”

I thought I should add this information to this thread.

Hope to hear from you again, Edwin.

    Hi Edwin,

Thanks for reporting all of this – there are several issues so I will try to address them all, and appreciate your patience with this! 🙂

    1. To be clear, in your last reply do you mean that the “Help” page in your wp-admin is now showing up fine? Or are there still issues?

    2. You reported some inconsistencies with our .po file and I appreciate this. I investigated the missing translation for the QR Code string and you are right, this is not translated! We need to fix that. I will try to get this fix into the next release.

    3. Finally, in regards to your permissions questions, the least amount of work to achieve what you describe would be to keep the client and “Editor” role, and then grant shop-managing capabilities to that role.

To manage WooCommerce orders and such, only the following two capabilities are required:

    manage_woocommerce
    • view_woocommerce_reports

So, my personal recommendation would be to just use a third-party plugin to add the above two capabilities to the “editor” role.

More information on how to add these capabilities can be found on the WooCommerce site here: https://docs.woothemes.com/document/roles-capabilities/

That article also links to some specific plugins that should let you make those changes, so definitely give this article a read and let me know if it helps.

    Thank you!
    George

    Hi George,

    Thanks again!

    I’ll answer poit-by-point:
    1. I meant the Event Tickets Help page (in WP), under Events-Settings. This is showing up fine now, no more issues
    2. Great, any idea when the next release is scheduled?
    3. I tried a couple of different plugins, but that didn’t work out (as stated above). However, since that Help page suddenly showed up again I will try the plugins once more and see if they also work properly now.

    Kind regards, Edwin

Thanks for the information Edwin. I’m glad to hear that the Help page works now.

As for a set schedule for the release, at this time I unfortunately do not have a specific date. 🙁

If the plugins don’t work, then you could try writing custom code if you are familiar with that. In either case the configuring of roles and users and users is a bit outside the scope of support we can provide, but if you’re curious about what custom coding would be required, you could try adding code something along the lines of this, just as a quick example:

    add_action( 'admin_init', 'tribe_support_1055281' );

    function tribe_support_1055281() {
    $role = get_role( 'editor' );
    $role->add_cap( 'manage_woocommerce' );
    $role->add_cap( 'view_woocommerce_reports' );
    }

If that doesn’t help you would unfortunately have to take the reins on implementing this on your site from there, but this works for me in terms of adding capabilities. You can learn more about this code on the WordPress codex here → https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_cap

    Sincerely,
    George

    Thanks again George!

After installing the “Capability Manager Enhanced”-plugin I managed to create a new role for my client, combining the Shopmanager + Editor capabilities.
This seems to work fine and gives my client all of the desired capabilities.

If only that one string (“Scan this QR code at the event to check in.”) would be added to the Dutch translations all of my problems would be solved… 😉

    One other question though:
Am I correct to think that checking in with the QR code on a smartphone only works on the actual date of the event?

Anyway, thanks for all your advice and have a great weekend! Edwin

Glad to hear about some progress here, @Edwin! And definitely stay tuned to the next release or two – we’ll get that string fixed for sure 🙂

As for event check-ins, no, the check-in process is not constrained by date at this time. Regardless of date, as long as you are logged into the site as an administrator you can check-in a ticket.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi George,

    Thanx again!
    Regarding the event check in:
Eventhough I’m logged in to WordPress on my smartphone, scanning the QR-code on the smartphone only takes me to the page of the event itself. The attendee is not set to ‘checked in’.
I’m using the Android app “QR Code Reader”.

    Any thoughts?

    Kind regards, Edwin

Sorry to hear this Edwin…hm…what admin user role is your account when you have tried the QR code check-ins? Is it a full admin account? Or something like an “editor” account, “author”, “subscriber”, anything at all other than the main admin account for the site? If so, try this main admin account and see if the check-ins work that way.

Also, what your site’s permalinks settings? These are in “Settings > Permalinks” in the wp-admin – are they set to /%postname%/, for example? If not, does changing them to this help at all here?

    Thanks,
    George

    Hi George,

    Thanks again.

The user role I’m using is full admin.
Permalinks are set exactly as you describe.
Maybe I should try a different user role?
Only thing is, I will not be able to try that out until February 8 at the earliest.
Due to circumstances I’ll have to travel to the USA, to visit my brother in law in the hospital (I know; off topic…).
Could you please leave this thread open ’till after I come back?
    Thanx!

    Kind regards, Edwin.

    Hey Edwin,

Sorry to hear about your brother, best of luck with your travels and things. I will definitely leave this thread open until then, just keep me posted on things when you return!

In the meantime, I will try to recreate the problems you describe because at this time I am still unable to do so.

    Thank you!
    George
