Matthew
ParticipantI have an issue with the pro plugin and facebook events. Occasionally when it syncs with Facebook it duplicates the event 20+ times.
It doesn’t happen with every eventSeptember 22, 2015 at 4:39 pm #1007675Matthew
ParticipantFurther to this the events are actually on most dates duplicating and for what ever reason adding by 1 hour increments and it is only on past events

ParticipantHey Matthew!
I’m sorry that things aren’t working right. What you said here is important:
It doesn’t happen with every event
That indicates that this might be a problem with specific FB events themselves; can you link to the FB Events on facebook.com that have this import problem, specifically? And then can you link to one event on facebook.com that is importing correctly?
I’ll test locally myself and see if I have the same problems.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi, I have checked it is with all past events this happens. I have it set to automatically retrieve new events every hour but what appears to be happening is that it is seeing all past events still on facebook and retrieving them again and again. I then have to manually delete them.

ParticipantI’m sorry to hear this Matthew!
It’s odd because I do not have this issue – can you share any specific facebook.com event URLs for events that have this problem? I will try to recreate the issue behavior directly.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi George. it is all the facebook events that have been doing this. If you let me know aa way to send you logins I can give you access. But like i said it is only happening to past events when I have the sync with facebook set to on.

ParticipantHey @Matthew,
Thanks for the update, and for the offer to share login information. I unfortunately cannot accept that offer, since we have a policy that we cannot log into customer sites or user accounts for any reason 🙁
If possible, however, you can set your reply to this thread as “Private reply” so that only you and the Modern Tribe support team can see its content – and you can post event links on Facebook.com in this reply. If possible, can you share URLs to the exact facebook.com events that are causing you these problems?
I have tried reproducing this problem again and do not have problems with a test event I made on facebook.com.
Thank you for your patience here @Matthew!
Cheers,

ParticipantThanks for the information @Matthew. I’m really, really sorry about this and still do not have your exact issues so I will create a ticket for our developers and hopefully we can find a specific bug or something here. I’m sorry for the inconvenience!

ParticipantHey @Matthew,
We’ve indeed been looking into this, and while I unfortunately do not have any specific update on your specific duplication issue, we have many improvements planned for major plugin updates coming some time at the end of October or in early November, if all goes to plan. Facebook Events is included in this major update and so hopefully some improvements in this update address your problems here.
I’m really, really sorry that I don’t have much more specific information than that 🙁 Is there anything else I can help with in the meantime here? Are your issues persisting exactly the same as before, or has the behavior changed at all?
Thank you for your patience @Matthew – we’re beholden to Facebook’s APIs in some ways and from what I know based on input from one of our developers, the issue with event duplication is hard to pin down; it doesn’t even happen that often, but can happen because of an issue where Facebook’s API doesn’t serve up a consistent “object ID” to check against to see if an event already exists…
