This is a FAILED update – you will lose all of your ticket inventory and all events will revert back to No available tickets. I just spent over two hours trying to find the answer to this issue after installing the 4.6 UPDATE – There is no answer – this update will not allow sales of tickets on recurring events.

Luckily I have older versions of both Events Tickets and Events Tickets Plus on hand – I am reverting until these severe bugs are ironed out.

Scott, I’m very, very sorry to hear this happened on your site.

Almost 20% of all users are on 4.6 already and I haven’t heard of this happening before.

Best practice is to always have a restorable database and file backup before modifying anything on your site. You might check with your web host to see if they do this for you; it’s fairly common to store nightly backups for the past 14 or 30 days. If your web host doesn’t, you may want to find a different one and/or sign up for a backup service, such as https://vaultpress.com/plans/ (part of the Jetpack plugin).

I have a couple sites that did the automatic update to 4.6 and they all worked fine.

You can obtain prior versions from https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/

You might also check in your database if the tickets are actually there but somehow not connected to your events anymore.

Please let me know how can I can be of any assistance.

You are kidding…right?

I am not the only person here saying that this update has broken ticket sales on production sites. You teal has even admitted that there is a bug which inserts bogus start and end ticket sales timing….

I suggest you fix your update, since it take you over 24 hours to respond to these messages – yes, I had a fix of my own, but I also came here for information and what I found was that I was not alone. Version 4.6 is broken and full of bugs dude. I already rolled back, which is what I said in my post (which was intended more to warn others before they go through the same issue with a client breathing down their neck, like I did all afternoon).

Whatever you did to the recurring ticket sales process, is not right and needs to be rectified before anyone who sells recurring tickets installs this update.

Hi, Scott. Thanks for correcting me on this topic. I’ve been informed of several bugs regarding it; they’re logged internally and should get some attention soon.

I’ll attach this thread to our “sale end date not honored” bug so that this thread gets a response once the fix for that is released (and hopefully other bugs fixed at the same time as well).

I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.

Cliff,

Here is an update for you.

My client went ahead and updated yesterday to the latest Events Tickets plugin (Not Events Tickets Plus – Yes we have Events Tickets Plus installed but he did not update that plugin) and immediately lost all ticket sales on all recurring events. (i.e.) the ticket selection and add to cart (WCOM Embedded Product) section disappeared.

I received a nasty email this morning about the unreliability of this website and how he is not selling any tour tickets because of the work I have done poorly on his new website.

I reverted the Events Tickets Plugin to version to 4.5.7 and all works again.

You must get a handle on these updates! I will lose valuable clients if you keep breaking your own plugin with this stuff. You may be able to not worry about such things, but I am not. I chose your software because it is supposedly the best and because I have used it in production sites for years. Right now I am not too happy about this latest choice with these updates.

PLEASE TEST YOUR CODE BEFORE ISSUING UPDATES

I second this. Albeit with different errors.

Thanks for your detailed feedback.

We invest quite a lot in QA, checking things before they go out the door. This was a major update and it definitely would have been better if we did so with fewer bugs.

I’ve passed along your messages to our Products Manager, who can use this feedback to determine how best to move forward and hopefully avoid such situations in the future.

Hello Scott!

Just wanted to share with you that a new release for Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus is out, including a fix for this issue

Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/event-tickets-and-event-tickets-plus-4-6-1-1/

We always suggest to setup a dev/staging site so you can test things out and make all plugins, theme and WordPress core updates without disrupting the live site. We also encourage to make a full backup of your site, both database and files so in case something goes wrong you can always restore your site.

Please update the plugins and let us know if the fix works for your site.

Best,
Victor

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

Thanks so much!
