    Hi there,

I have been struggling to get this part to work. My site is now up and running with many recurring events. We are using it for 20-week courses as well so one event can reoccur many times.

When I try to use the search functionality of the theme/Wordpress itself to provide users a search for the entire site, it returns every single page of a recurring event, making the search function entirely useless. I can’t imagine being the only one with this issue, so am I overlooking something that I could setup to prevent this?

I am NOT talking about the Events Calendar Pro search function but the integrated site search option that is part of my theme.

    Looking forward to your reply,
    Hans

    Hi Hans.

The main WordPress site search (e.g. example.com/?s=party) and Tribe Bar search both return the the same as you’re experiencing — it’s not a Divi issue.

I found this previous forum post with code to possibly accomplish what you’re wanting (or at least possibly point you in the right direction for your own custom coding): https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/show-only-first-instance-of-recurring-event-in-search-results/

Please review and test and let me know how it goes for you.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply.
I’ve found that the Google Customer Search WordPress plugin only returns the first (or atleast only one) result of a recurring event. I’ve said byebye to the awful WordPress search option and resorted to Google’s search. Works for me now.

    Thanks for your reply!

    Howdy Hans,

That sounds like a good solution. Search is an extremely hard thing to do well, there’s good reason why Google has made billions of dollars doing it after investing billions into figuring it out. And even then it’s still not perfect. But I’m glad it’s good enough for your needs here.

Thanks for getting back and sharing your solution. Cheers!
