Displaying events/links on other WP installs

We have a news site http://www.news.com and we are planning to do a separate install of wordpress just for the calendar at http://www.news.com/events (not multi site, fully separate installs). The calendar will be fine at http://www.news.com/events, but we want to display upcoming events “happening this week” etc on our main site http://www.news.com in a sidebar or widget.

Rss has some issues, dates etc, jetpack will only show 10 posts from another wp install.

Question: What other ways are there to show 10-30 current events (link and excerpt for example) pulled from http://www.news.com/events, displayed on our main site http://www.news.com. Or more simply with 2 wordpress sites how can I display current events on site A, pulling from site B that has the events calendar pro installed on it. Syndication like only link and excerpt.
Note: both sites are on same host, same base url, same theme, same drive, different DB

Thank you for reaching out to our Pre-Sales Questions channel! The only way that would work with one license would be via Multisite. In order to have the PRO widget functionality, you’ll need to have an active PRO license set up for each domain.
