Hi the title says it all! I have set a recurring event and only the first date is highlighted/ clickable on the calendar widget. Is there a way of having all dates for that event highlighted?

    Many thanks 🙂

    Howdy cromerpier,

That is a real puzzling problem. I have not seen any one else with that issue before. I am testing it locally on my server, and all events in a recurring series are clickable in the Mini-calendar widget.

I would like to verify that I fully understand your problem. When I add the Mini Calendar widget, and navigate to a day that has a recurring event in it, I can click on it and open up the that event in my calendar. Is this what you are unable to do for recurring events (other than the first one)?

Could you try creating a new test recurring event for me, and seeing if it suffers from the same problem? I am curious to see if it might work properly.

If none of the above helps, I have one more idea. Could you try temporarily activating the default 2013 theme, and seeing if the issue persists?

If disabling the theme fixes it, we have narrowed the issue down to a theme conflict. Do you have any theme overrides for the Events Calendar? If so could you try disabling them by renaming your [themename]/tribe-events/ folder to ‘tribe-events-bak’. Did that fix it?

If the issue persists in the default 2013 theme, then we have a different set of debugging steps. Please keep the 2013 theme enabled, and also disable any plugins other than the ones from Modern Tribe to see if that fixes it. If it does, please try reenabling the plugins one at a time until the issue resurfaces. When it does resurface, can you let me know which plugin caused that to happen?

Does that make sense? Did one of those possibilities help you fix this? Please let me know. Cheers!

Hi Brook, thank you for the response. Just to clarify, if i set up a recurring event to run from 12/12/2014 – 19/12/2014 the calendar widget will only be clickable on the 12th. It will then display underneath in the Ajax driven listing. It will display indicating that it is a recurring event with a ‘show all’ link. What i need it to do however is to show that there is an event on each day on the actual calendar. So that could can click on it for each day.

I will go through you points and see if anything fixes it.

    Cheers!

Hi again, none of that stuff worked unfortunately. However i have found that when i click through on the ‘show all’ link to see all of the events in the recurring list, the calendar displays as i want it to – with all of the days highlighted. Really odd that the two displays are different. Does it do this by design?

    Howdy cromerpier,

I am sorry! I misread your topic title when I originally responded. This problem might be simpler than I thought.

Could you please go to WP Admin > Evnets > Settings, and scroll down to “Recurring event instances”. Is this field currently checked? If so, when you uncheck it does the widget behave how you would expect?

Hi thanks for the response and sorry for the delay in responding.

Unticking the box makes the calendar widget display as i want it to, but it includes an entry for each of the event days in the listing. I want to be able to show one event in the listing that says, for example ‘Cromer Pier Show April 25 – April 30’ but i want the calendar widget to highlight all the days. Is this possible?

    Howdy cromerpier,

Okay I follow you now. So that is possible, but it is definitely going to involve building a small customization using our API. To do that you will need a sounds knowledge of PHP and WP Queries. Armed with that knowledge, I would recommend that you create your own calendar widget by copying the current one to a plugin our your theme folder, then renaming it. From there you can modify it to your hearts desire, including create a custom tax query for the list view that ignores the option to only show the first event in an upcoming series.

If you are unable to make that modification and do not know someone whom you can hire, have no fear. We actually keep a list of freelancers who are quite capable of making changes on your behalf. You can obtain this list by emailing [email protected] and requesting it.

Does that help you now? I think we are on the same page now, so I hope my answer is informative.

That is great. I just wanted to know if I needed to go down the custom code route. I do, so that is fine. Thanks very much for your help.

For sure! It is a very good question. Sometimes we have options or filters that make modifications even easier. Glad I can help. Since this issue is resolved I am going to close the topic. Feel free to open another one if you you ever need more help. Cheers!

By the way, if you have a minute or two, we would love it if you could write a few words about the plugin here. Happy developing!
