ParticipantHello,
I would like the List View displayed on my Events page http://communityparentnetwork.org/events/
to display on my Home page right under the slider.I’ve tried the following Shortcode [tribe_events_list category=”local-parenting-events”] but the display is awful.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

ParticipantHey Sylvia,
Thanks for reaching out. Can you clarify precisely what you mean when you say that when you tried the shortcode, the “Display was awful”?
That shortcode is the best way to go about doing this β if the events didn’t quite look as nice as they do on other parts of your site, this is because of your theme, not The Events Calendar itself.
If you add that shortcode back in, and let us look at the listed events there, we might be able to recommend some custom CSS for you to get you started on the path to customize their appearance and make them look better there. But customizing their appearance with CSS is something you’d have to do to make them look nice.
The other methods for listing the events there are more complicated than the shortcode, and would still have the styling issues because those issues come from your theme, so using the shortcode and writing custom CSS to improve the look of the events is unfortunately the best option here.
Let me know what you think!

ParticipantHello George,
My sincere apologies for not explaining myself correctly. My use of the word “awful” was referring to the fact that the output didn’t look right primarily because I don’t know how to properly style it using CSS. I read the CSS information and created the folders and files but that is where my weak knowledge of CSS (and more) kicked in.
Ideally I’d like the Events list to display like it does on the Events page but right under the slider. I’ve looked at your Showcase and really like a lot of those examples. The Boise State University events page is perfect => http://events.boisestate.edu/ , however I’m guessing this type of display isn’t possible with my limited knowledge.
Thank you so much for your prompt response and assistance. I sincerely appreciate it.
Kindly,

ParticipantHey Sylvia,
Thanks for elaborating on what your desires here, although unfortunately I do have to bear the news that achieving custom styles will require some CSS knowledge π
If you’re unfamiliar with CSS, that means that your best option is to either check out the basics of the language on a site like http://css-tricks.com and piece together the customizations you’d like to make, or to hire a freelance developer to make the customizations for you.
If you’re interested in the latter option, you can find contact information for some Customizers we’ve heard good things about here β https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/
Sorry to disappoint here βΒ let me know if you have further questions or concerns!
Thanks,
