ParticipantI’m working on a project where my client will be using an Event Category basically as a Journal. They have a weekly meeting, that they will often record Video or Audio, or take minutes on etc. They want to be able to go back into the Event Entry and add the Journal information.
I want to use a separate Event Category for any events that have Journal Entries, and have a category template for that Event Category that displays the events just like a normal blog post that are sorted by Publish Date rather than Event Date.
Any suggestions?

MemberHey Jason. Thanks for the note here; so if I understand correctly, you basically want to have just one category of events – but not all events – mixing in with your regular blog posts…correct? Let me know if I’m wrong there. Otherwise, have you checked whether this tut points you in the right direction (https://theeventscalendar.com/show-your-events-in-the-main-post-loop/) ? It’s not category specific, so you will have to dig a little deeper on your end, but if I understand correctly that’s generally the same issue. Let me know if I’m wrong there.

ParticipantHi Rob,
Thanks for your response. Actually a bit off what I’m describing. Although I asked about exactly what your suggesting here:
Looking for a way to merge Event Category with Blog Category
I may still consider this method, but my current request, is a bit different.
In this case. I basically just want to use the existing Event Posts but assign them to a separate Event Category when they are Journal entries. I want to be able to put a link in my navigation for the Event Journal Category, but I want the posts from that Category only to show up as normal blog posts that are sorted by Publish date. I want to remove all the formatting normally associated with an Event Category and make it appear to be a normal blog category. If I can achieve that then I can likely skip what I was trying to achieve with merging blog and event categories.

MemberThanks for the follow-up, Jason. This is an interesting request but it’s unfortunately outside my area of expertise. Let me see if one of our devs can take a look and share any insights here. Stay tuned.

MemberAh, perfect. I’ll hold off then. If you want me to bring a dev in after exploring the option Shane provided, let me know and I’ll respond accordingly from there.
