ParticipantWe have several recurring events. In the admin options we have the checkbox enabled for show first instance of recurrent event. The issue is if I look at the list view, it shows November 2016 and then lists recurring event, January 2017 and lists recurring event. I understand why this is happening, because the Event is actually from November 2016 – November 2018. But It shouldn’t be showing up in the upcoming events list at the top of the page listed under November when it is April 3.
And example is if you look at https://pbn.com/events/category/community/ If I go to the calendar list, I would expect to see only events that have the dates of April 3rd (Today) and greater. I shouldn’t be seeing the headlines of November 2016, January 2017, etc.
How can we make it so it only shows the recurring event instance in the list view.

MemberHi Eric!
Thanks so much for your patience as our team gets back into the groove following our annual retreat last week! I can help you with this!
To show only the first instance of a recurring event for any of the list-style views, just go to WP-Admin > Events > Settings > General > Recurring event instances, check that option and Save Changes.
This should work for you! If for some reason it doesn’t work please reply back with a screenshot of one of your events. Make sure all the settings are visible in the screenshot so I can help troubleshoot.
Let me know how it goes!

ParticipantTrish,
I already have that checked on. If you look at the link that I put in the thread you will see the issue.April 7, 2017 at 7:40 pm #1266901Trisha
MemberHi Eric,
Thank you for confirming that for me. I tried replicating the issue on my local install and was unable to do so. Would you be so kind as to send a screenshot of your event setting in the admin area? It would be helpful for me as I try and debug your issue.
Thank you so much!

MemberHi, Eric!
I think I’ve narrowed it down for you! I’ve recreated your event on my local install and got the desired result. You can see the results of this in the screenshot here (twenty seventeen theme)

To get it setup up like this my ‘Add Events’ screen looks like this:

I hope this helps clarify things a bit. Recurring events can be a big fiddly to set up so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need anything else.

ParticipantAhhhh, Okay so for recurring events, the end date is always the same as the start date, and you control the length of recurring by updating setting on individual series.
Thanks!
