This appears to be a problem with the theme I’m using: Evolution by Elegant Themes, but I’m posting here hoping that you might at least be able to point me in the right direction. I’m also posting this over at Elegant Themes.

The best way to describe this problem is by example. My events calendar is populated with events for all of 2014. I currently have four event categories, and I would like to display a list of all events for 2014 for a given category. I am using “The Events Calendar Category Colors” plugin, but if I disable that plugin, this behavior is still present.

Click this link to see all upcoming Autocross events in List view. Notice how it only displays events through May:

    http://pbenz.dyndns.org/~paulb/pca/calendar/category/autocross/upcoming/

Click the Next Events link – no events are shown – this is a bug as you will soon see.

Click your browser’s “Back” button. Notice how all events for 2014 are displayed. Also notice how more of the event details are displayed. If you refresh the page, only events through May are displayed and the event details are trimmed down.

If I switch to the Twenty Thirteen theme, this behavior disappears.

    Hi suncoastpca,

Well, that’s an interesting one for sure. Given that it works properly when you switch to Twenty Thirteen it sounds like it’s a conflict with your theme and not something inherent in the plugin. Have you heard anything from Elegant Themes? I’d be curious to hear what they had to say on the issue.

    Hi Julie,

Elegant Themes is so far being unhelpful and is basically saying that not all of their themes will work with all plugins. The theme I’m using (Evolution) is nice looking but nothing radical, so I can’t imagine what the heck they’re doing to cause this behavior. I have a lifetime subscription with them and I’m hoping they’ll at least be able to point me in the right direction for getting to the bottom of this. I’m comfortable with getting into the PHP code myself but I’m afraid this is going to eat up a lot of my time.

I’ll report back here if I find anything. If you have any high-level tips or suggestions, I’m all ears.

Well, I can point you to our Themer’s Guide (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/) and Documentation (http://docs.tri.be/) for some reference material. There are some good tutorials out on the web with info on how to troubleshoot theme/plugin conflicts that might also be helpful. Here’s a good place to start perhaps: http://www.organizedthemes.com/troubleshoot-wordpress-conflicts-2/ (not an endorsement).

Thanks, Julie. Elegant Themes is telling me to try a different calendar plugin, as if that’s an option at this point. Instead, I tried another one of their themes (I have a lifetime subscription), and the problem was gone. So it’s definitely their bug, but they don’t even want to try to help me figure it out. I appreciate your efforts and I guess I’ll mark this as resolved.
