ParticipantRunning the latest version of WordPress, the latest version of the Uplift theme by SwiftIdeas (http://uplift.swiftideas.com/) and the latest pro version of the event calendar plugin and I’m having issues with the top navigation menu disappearing on my blog page.
My sandbox site blog page is here http://8e3.070.myftpupload.com/body-of-knowledge/
If you click on anything in the categories section on the sidebar things are fine. If you click on anything in the tags section the top navigation menu just disappears. Of note the hamburger menu in the top right corner also goes blank in this situation. If I disable the event calendar plugin then this all works as expected. I’ve currently got all plugins disabled except those that are needed by the theme itself and the event calendar plugin so things are pointing to a conflict between the plugin and theme.
Any thoughts on what the issue could be or ways that I can help in tracking down the source of the problem would be appreciated.
Thanks

MemberHi Joseph / Chuck.
We don’t provide support for non-standard WordPress themes (like Twenty Sixteen), per our Scope of Support / Terms.
However, if you provide a walkthrough (e.g. link A works but link B is where the issue happens), I may be able to help you better understand what’s happening.
Another idea is to change your wp-admin > Events > Display tab > “Events template” option

ParticipantIn short go here http://8e3.070.myftpupload.com/category/body-of-knowledge/ click on anything in the tag cloud on the sidebar and the top menu disappears. It behaves this way only with the event calendar plugin enabled. Clicking on anything in the categories section works fine.
If you go into the bookstore http://8e3.070.myftpupload.com/book-store/ everything works fine. Click on anything in the sidebar and the top menu remains at all time.
Thanks

MemberIf your theme has templating separate for categories and tags, you probably need to add your menu to your tags template.
How you do that in your theme, I’m unsure. You’ll need to ask your theme author for any further help on this.

ParticipantThere is nothing special to do with the menu regarding the tags screen. As I’ve said a few times everything behaves perfectly fine with the event calendar plugin DISABLED. No other configuration changes are made besides that.

MemberI’m unsure how our plugin could possibly affect your Tags Archives, but we don’t provide support for non-standard themes. Unfortunately, I think I’ve helped as much as possible on this issue.
However, one last idea is to provide me a .zip download of the parent and child themes you’re using and I can try them out on my local testing site.

MemberThanks, Joseph.
I saw Line 198 of /wp-content/themes/uplift/swift-framework/core/sf-sidebars.php is
if ( class_exists( 'TribeEvents' ) ) {which throws a WP_DEBUG message that says this has been deprecated since version 3.10 and that Tribe__Events__Main should be used instead. Therefore, since the theme isn’t updated for our plugins, this is as far as we can go helping toward this issue. Hopefully your theme author/support can assist further here.

ParticipantOk so you’re saying the problem is with something in the theme itself?
Thanks

MemberI’m saying the parent theme you shared with me (I didn’t look into the child theme) has code that’s been deprecated since The Events Calendar version 3.10, which was released in or around June 2015.
You can report this to your theme author or just continue using things as-is.
We do not provide support for themes besides the WordPress default themes like TwentyFourteen, TwentyFifteen, and TwentySixteen, but we especially couldn’t help with a theme that is not updated with our current plugin versions.
I hope this clarifies the situation. I’ll be glad to help however I can. I’m looking forward to hearing back from you.
