ParticipantHello, All –
I am planning to rebuild a community portal which uses Event Calendar Pro. Unfortunately, I have run out of of licenses. One of them is assigned to the site which I am planning to move – so I’m not sure how to get around it. I’ve read elsewhere that I can use a domain ending in .dev and .test, etc – but that seems rather costly. Can I not simply use a suitably titled subdomain instead – such as dev.mysite.org?
Failing that can someone please tell me what limitations I will encounter if I try to export data from the Pro version of Events Calendar and then import it into the free version?
Thanks,
Antar

MemberHi Antar,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us here! I’m afraid that at this time, only localhost sites and sites with the above listed TLDs (.dev and .test) will work as development sites without consuming one of your license key activation slots. However, you can still install your copy of Events Calendar PRO on your development site without needing to activate a license key! Omitting the license key from your install will remove your ability to perform automatic plugin updates, but updates can still be downloaded from your account on TheEventsCalendar.com and installed manually. Actual plugin functionality should not be impacted in any way. 🙂
For more information on using a single license key across both development and live sites, check out our Knowledgebase article here:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-one-license-live-dev-sites/
I hope that helps to clarify things a bit! Thanks again, and let me know if you should have any other questions or concerns!

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
