ParticipantWe recently updated to 3.0.5 and the client was creating recurring events, then selectively deleting certain events.
Now it deletes all the recurring events, is there a setting to change or ??

MemberTrashing one instance of a recurring event will indeed trash them all and that is by design, owing to the underlying architecture. If that’s likely to be problematic we’d definitely be open to feedback/suggestions to change this and our UserVoice page would be a great place to do this:

As other users can than add their support.

ParticipantThanks Barry, this was a change from the last version.
The client is a church and they like recurring for 52 weeks but need to delete an event here and there, without deleting the entire series.August 23, 2013 at 6:22 am #62571Barry
MemberHi Bob,
I believe this behaviour only affects the list of events – it should still be possible to open an individual recurring event and trash it from within the event editor, using the trash link near the Publish|Update button.
Does that help at all?

ParticipantYes I’ll have them try that, thanks

ParticipantThis behavior actually does happen from the event editor. I found that trashing a single event from the single event edit screen deleted the whole series. I had to advise my client to change the single event from published to draft, which had the intended effect. We also found that we were able to delete the single event after changing it to a draft without affecting the series, but while it was published it showed the unintended behavior, deleting all the recurring events even when selecting the option to delete only this event in the popup.

MemberHow’s this all going? Does anyone need further help here?

ParticipantI tried what Barry said and the whole screen tints to a transparent dark gray. I see the popup under it that asks if I want to do this to every occurrence or only the one. I’m not able to click it or do anything else though as the whole screen is dark. I just wrote another post as this also happens when I click on “Hide from Event Listing” and try to update. This also happens when I tried it on my wife’s computer. I deactivated all other plugins and it still happens.

MemberHi wpdan – we’ve got a fix for that specific issue in our list of Useful Code Snippets over in the right sidebar – please see: https://theeventscalendar.com/recurring-events-dialog-fix/
Since you’ve anyway created another thread for this issue I’ll go ahead and close this one – just to reiterate though, as in my first post, we are open to ideas such as feature requests and User Voice is a great place to add them: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas
