ParticipantThe Default View choice in Settings was working fine at one point. It’s not working anymore, leading our clients to create the 17th support request for The Events Calendar plugin in less than 3 months.
See the attachments for an example of what I’m speaking of.

MemberGood afternoon Lee and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the view disappearing on you. Yikes!
I would love to help you with this topic. With that in mind, I just went to https://www.discoverjacksonnc.com/events/ and the calendar displays perfectly. Did anything change on your end ?
Other than that, when such glitches happen, I usually recommend temporarily changing the default view, saving and re-enabling the desired default view.
Have a good weekend,
Geoff B.

ParticipantI see what happened. We’ve had the plugin set to display on the page called Calendar. It somehow got changed back to Events, yet the Calendar page still displayed the event calendar with page title, controls, search, etc.
Now that I’ve changed the “Events URL slug” to “calendar” as it should be, an error (or notice) displays with “The Page “Calendar” uses the “/calendar” slug: the Events Calendar plugin will show its calendar in place of the page.”
The problem here is that the page title doesn’t show (should say Calendar) and the markup is devoid of an h1 tag, arguably one of the most the important tags on a page.
Subsequent single event pages are missing the section title, too, which should be Calendar.
I guess what’s really missing is a reason why “the Events Calendar plugin will show its calendar in place of the page.” Any idea?

MemberGood evening Lee,
You are definitely on to something.
What is going on is that the default the Events Calendar page is not actually a “real” page.
That means a couple of things:
- You do not and should not create a page called “Calendar” if your goal is to have https://www.discoverjacksonnc.com/calendar/ as the main the Events Calendar URL.
- Instead you should simply change the slug in Events -> Settings -> General and adjust your Menu accordingly.
- Although the main the Events Calendar page is not a real page, it does need exclusivity over the URL it uses. If there is a “real” page created that uses the same slug, things will stop working properly.
- In order to control the display of the main the Events Calendar page, you can try the different settings under Events -> Settings -> Display, the Events Template one specifically.
- If there are elements missing from the display (like the H1 tag for example), you can always tweak that directly in your child theme.
Finally, if you really want to go for a regular page approach, there is nothing stoping you from leaving the calendar at /events/ WHILE creating a /calendar/ page where you use the full calendar embed code: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!
