Default status for submitted events – Pending Review changes to Draft

After updating to 3.7, setting the default status for submitted events to Pending Review does not work. The status for the submitted events is set to “Draft” regardless of whether “Pending Review” or “Draft” is selected in the Community Events settings. I have confirmed this is an issue on a clean install (Twenty twelve theme with no plugins activated).

Is there a fix or a workaround until this can be resolved in an upcoming release?
